(I am a female) I know that different guys prefer different things, but in general would it be the safest bet to shave/remove the hair "down there" or to leave the hair?
and also, what's the best way to get rid of hair in the bikini area?

I'll give you an opinion type thing though if that's what you're looking for: most guys IVE talked to prefer it shaved, but a little bit of hair won't matter, I'm sure. I mean, you can't shave it every single day or you'll get crazy razer burns. haha
And you can shave, get a bikini wax, or even laser hair removal if that's what you want.
Then you'll never have to worry about shaving there. You should look into it.
laynemayhem answered Monday February 2 2009, 10:34 am: i shave mine, all of it, just to be safe. sometimes, they like the smoothness. but they also dont mind the hair.
ask your guy whichever he prefers. thats what i did. :)
and i get rid of mine by shaving. it takes a while, but it leaves me feeling smooth for a couple of days. but if you're going to shave, you'll need to be sitting down in the tub, and you might have to shave in different angles, as the hair grows in about 4 or 5 different directions.

you are right. Different guys do prefer different things, but what do you prefer?
Just because a guy wants or doesn't want it, doesn't mean you have to do it.
Shaving can cause razor burn, ingrown hairs, and or razor bumps. If you just want to, you can trim the hair to get it under control. Waxing is always an option, however, it can be painful and expensive.
Decide what you want and go with that. That's what's most important!
