Telling my parents

Question Posted Wednesday January 28 2009, 11:47 pm

15/f
I just recently got a boyfriend, and it's been about a month. I'm pretty close with my parents and I want to tell them but I don't really know the right way to bring it up. Every time I think about it it seems pretty awkward. Any advice?!

You may think this sound kinda corny but your parents have a right to know. If you have dated before and they were cool with it, then really all you have to do is tell them when their in a good mood. Just let them know in a cool, calm, manor. :^)

be very casual about it. when you want to hang out with your boyfriend simply say "parental unit, can so-and-so come over?" or "parental unit, can i go out with so-and-so tonight?" and when your parental unit asks "who's so-and-so?" you say "so-and-so is my new boyfriend." good luck.

hey i don't really know you and your parents relationship, but if you really don't want to just randomly open up and tell them...maybe just tell them you're hanging out with him alot...i didn't tell my parents when my boyfriend and i started dating. i just asked my parents if i could invite someone over for dinner and after they asked me about him and after awhile they figured it out on their own that we were dating, and asked me the questions.

Hello,as you may know starting a conversation or anything is the hardest step but once you take that first step and begin it becomes a whole lot easier and more comfortabel. I believe you could just be up front with her because communication is key to any relationship, unless your mom is againts you having a boyfrien then she should not react any other way but with excitement, because usually when parents see you happy and hear news that makes you happy they are happoy in return. Don't be afraid to open up to your mother,if you just arent ready to tell her then you could bring it up casually like if you are maybe watching something on tv abotu a relationship you can bring it up then or when you have your mothers undivided attention you can just say it then like "mother I have been dating this guy for awhile and i really like him"just try to tell them all the good things about him, like what sports he might play, his interests, his attributes, anything. I hope this helped and the best of luck to you,if you have any further questions on this topic or any other topic you can send me a message!!
SINCERLY,DIAMOND:)
