Integrated Science SBA Aim: How impurites affect boiling point of a liquid.
problem: at a campsite, a group of student campers discovered that the three large containers of clear liquids were labelled. they knew that one of the liquids was distilled water, the other Salt solution and the third alcohol. the campers needed salt solution to cook their peas. how can they find out which one of the containers has salt solution without tasting the liquids?
among their cooking utensils they have pots and pans. their 'make-shift' laboratory equipment including matches and thermometer.
my question whats the first step i do to start this SBA? i desperatley need somebody's help.

Since the aim of the thought experiment involves the boiling point of a liquid, your answer should probably refer to this property of materials.
Assuming this thought experiment takes place on the surface of the earth (i.e. at what human scientists refer to as standard temperature and pressure), and that the 'alcohol' is ethanol, then it is a simple matter of boiling all three liquids and measuring the temperature at which that happens for each one.
The boiling point of ethanol is 352 K.
To differentiate between distilled water and salt water, one must be familiar with the phenomenon of boiling point elevation.

I had to do this in science too.
Add some lemon juice to all the ingredients and the salt should turn into a muchy sort of substance. If you add lemon juice to the water the water will just stay water, but I'm not sure what will happen to the alchahol because we did not use alchahol in our experiment.
