Question Posted Thursday December 4 2008, 10:15 pm
I am undecided on what gym to join, it's either "the Total Woman's Gym & Day Spa or L.A. Fitness". This are my doubts on both:
Woman's Gym:
Closer to my home, don't have to get on the FWY
It offers great dance and workout classes
It's all women so it is more comfortable
limited workout machines
Membership is about $10 dollars more then L.A. Fitness but it includes unlimited dance classes.
I saw two reviews online that this gym has lousy customer service.
Doesn't have the step master I love.
L.A. Fitness:
A bit far from home, I have to get on the FWY.
No good dance or work out classes.
Co-ed so I might feel a bit intimidated with men.
Various locations to use and a lot of workout machines.
Membership is a bit cheaper then the woman's gym but if I want to take dance classes it will cost me much more then the other gym.
Great gym used to go before but then stopped.
Has the step master I love to use and many other machines.
Which one to join, I'm very undecided..............HELP!!!
solidadvice4teens answered Friday December 5 2008, 8:02 pm: It's NOT about cost but rather what you get for your money. The first gym has a limited amount of machines. That's a problem and will be a giant headache trying to compete with others for them. The gym also has a lousy track record with customer concerns.
You also should look at space and size of the gym, what kind of instructors they have and whether or not people are happier spending more for dance classes there than anywhere else.
Bottom line is you can get dance lessons from qualified people about anywhere but as for an actual gym and quality workout can this first gym do that?
I would go in with a list of endless questions and ask a representative from both gyms all of them and then pick the gym that is suited best to your needs. If they won't give you the time to do that than forget their gym. You have to really ask yourself what is it do I want out of this? and pepper them with questions.
Having said that I would join L.A. Fitness even if it is co-ed (you'll get used to it) as they have tons of machines available when you want them and MULTIPLE locations so you could work out anywhere which is good if you have school in a different area of town.
If it was a great gym before it should be now that you are returning to it. It seems like a no brainer considering you were satisfied before with them. Better to go with whom you know provided quality before than take a risk with someone else.
You could always say to their rep what Woman's Gym is charging for the same and see if they can give you some kind of deal or even a student rate. If you don't ask you won't know. Quite often they don't advertise such deals. But believe me they'll do damned near everything to have you as a customer than for you walk out the door to another gym.
