mkay. sooo I'm a senior. and the next step is college. I'm interested in so many diff. category's that it sucks. its kinda like, when i find something that i want to do, i end up finding something wrong with it. I'm interested in things from medical to culinary to business to film making! my problem is that i don't want to end up majoring in something i think i like, but in the long run end up hating it. I'm not sure what i should do. I'm not even sure what college to go to. i know this is really bad and time is running out, but I'm so indecisive that its making me crazy. how do i figure out whats best for me??
College is about exploration. You don't have to be too sure about what you want to do, you don't have to pick a major for a few years. And the people who are in college, i'm sure have changed their major when they find something that they feel fits them better. I'm i college and I went from wanting to be an audiologist, to Library Science, to psycholgy. And I'm still open for change. Since you're not sure about what college you want to got to, try looking for a college that fits your needs the best. Do you want to be close to home or farther away?,Online or on campus? Should their be a semester abroad, large school or small,Instate or out?Do you want it to be religiously affiliated or no? Also you could try finding a college that has the majority of the majors you're interested in that way if you choose to change majors it will be easier. Plus if you look online I think you might be able to find a career aptitude test, to help you narrow down your majors. But don't worry people grow in college even if you take the career test you might want to change and there's nothing wrong with that.
Another option to is to look into going to community college for two years and then transfer. It's cheaper and It will give you a little more time to explore. I'm doing community college and it's helped me to narrow down a lot.
(And I don't know what state you live in but if you live in California, there's a website called Californiacolleges.edu they help you select a school that's right for you. and also check out Studentsreview.com, actually students rate the schools and tell you what it's like to live there and go to school there.Studentreview.com is good because it's for any state and not just CA) [ QueenofDiamonds's advice column | Ask QueenofDiamonds A Question ]
superstarblue89 answered Friday September 12 2008, 8:19 pm: Coming from someone who just went through this last year, I would suggest going into school as an undecided major. I would go to a local college (just for the first year) and try a few courses in all of the majors you are interested in. This will help you to understand what you want to do and then you can transfer to another school that has a strong department in that program. But I will tell you now that the majority of college students change their majors at least once during the time they are in school so don't make anything too definite. Be flexible.
