So I read somewhere that if a teenager doesn't consume about 1800 calories a day, (or in the high thousands) then their body will go into starvation mode.
I eat less than that, probably around 1000ish, 1200 at most if I'm not eating at a restaurant. Not because I'm dieting (although I want to lose weight, but I'm doing that through exercise), but simply because I eat till I'm full.
Would that mean that my body is in starvation mode? I can't really force myself to eat more.
Psycotheis answered Friday September 12 2008, 8:28 pm: Starvation mode is where your body begins to break down whatever it can to survive, such as muscle tissue or remaining fat. Its a terribly slow and agonizing process if nothing done, because it just slowly gets worse as time goes by. But...
Those statisics are faulty, because every teenager is different. If those statistics are true, then I eat too much... and I'm pretty damn skinny. So overall you should not worry about it. As long as your weight loss is a steady trickle or a bit more and you aren't losing muscle mass, then your maintaining at your metabolic rate, which is good.
