Question Posted Wednesday September 10 2008, 8:16 pm
OKAY so my school serves pizza, EVERY DAY, and I'm on a diet there for I bring my lunch every day. BUT the thing is I don't have a microwave, so I can only take items that don't have to be heated! I have been taking a ham sandwich for two weeks with one small bag of sun chips.
SO my major isue is what else can I fix, that is diet appropriate, yummy, and non heatable.
Please see let me know if there's something that would be suitable for my situation.
half of a wheat bagel with turkey
or a salad
graham crackers or granola bar
a fruit (grapes, banana, or dried cranberries)
a vegetable (carrots or cucumbers)
and Reese's 100 calorie packs
It's a good portion size for me and nutritious as well. By the way, turkey is a lot leaner than ham. Also, don't think of it as a diet- think of it as a healthy lifestyle change. Two years ago I adopted a healthier lifestyle, and I haven't ever slipped up. That's because I never called it a diet. So good luck with everything! A lot of people at my school bring salads. I actually eat Cheerios for lunch every day (since I was like 4). Other people bring different types of sandwiches or they just go get food during lunch (juniors and seniors can leave our campus at lunchtime). Second, if your school serves bagels or english muffins or anything like that buy those and bring in tomatos (if you like them) mixed with mayonaise. Take the tomatoes and top the bagel or english muffin with them. If possible make the bagel a wheat bagel if not just a plain one. That will get you bread, vegetables, a little carbs, and a snack without having to worry about counting calories or anything like that. Also, it tastes great so you won't be as tempted to eat the pizza. I am a part time chef so give me a while and I will come up with some other yummy recipes for you. Let me know what is your favorite food so maybe I can work around that. Good luck. [ connected20's advice column | Ask connected20 A Question ]
