If your family isn't taking you seriously you should tell a teacher or someone you trust what the medication is or isn't doing for you. They'll approach your parents who will then have to act and get it checked out.

Also, you can call your psychiatrist 24/7 if you are having problems with your medication or feeling tense, can't sleep, feel hopeless or depressed. They need to know the medication isn't working and exactly what you are feeling at all times. It's for your own safety. Call them.

If you're losing control of your muscles and feeling the way you are feeling they need to know. You can even visit an emergency room and have them figure out what is wrong and evaluate you and your mental health.

When were you prescribed these pills? It takes 6 weeks for something to work. if they are causing the feelings you describe you have to get help pronto as no drug should cause you to lose control of your muscles or body. That's a real sign of something being very wrong. Keep telling people until they do something or call the doctor yourself or visit an ER.

Go back to your doctor, and ask for a referral to a therapist.

I took medication for anxiety, and they did wonders for me. There are many different types however, and it took me four different types until I found the mix that worked for me. Sadly, that is the name of the game when it comes to medication for mood disorders. The important thing to do is give them a chance, take them as instructed and be aware of what is and isnt working for you.

However, the one treatment proven to be more effective then medication, is therapy. That's what you need. That is what will help the most. If things don't work with the first therapist, try someone else.

Your doctor can be a great resource, but you need to see someone more specialized to really deal with these issues.

If you have trouble with your parents, ask your doctor to speak to them about this. If they are given you medication they ought to be fully supportive of you seeking therapy, if they arent, they are an idiot and you should switch doctors. With your permission, your doctor can discuss your case with your parents and explain WHY therapy is nessicary and a good treatment opition.

unfortunately we have a tendency to think that everything can be fixed with a few simple pills. this is not how it works. doctors prescribe pills, and pills either numb you down so that you don't feel, or mess with your brain, making your problem worse or unbearable.

i'm suggesting natural methods... try taking a course on anxiety, there are many and they are AMAZING. i suffered from anxiety frequently. i learned to stop whatever i was doing, figure out what's causing the anxiety, take very deep breaths and relax. by the way taking deep breathing is very relaxing, try stopping and just calming down and taking a few really deep breaths.

also, clear your mind. there are techniques that you can find online or i can send them to you if you message me. they teach you to relax your mind and think of NOTHING and it truly helps and relaxes you.

the pills are numbing you which makes you sleep, and you loose control of your muscles, meaning it's causing more anxiety...this is why : when muscles contract, it's cause you're anxious or nervous... when they start shaking, they're doing the same thing...contracting. it's confusing but it seems like the pills are doing you no good.

depression can be targeted with food... really. bananas are very good for depression. they boost energy. also pills can cause depression depression cause once again they're numbing you.

I've been put on every depression medication there is and none of them have helped me. Depression isn't something that can be fixed with a pill. I learned that. You have to pull yourself out of depression. Some of the medicine you are taking might have started kicking in, which results in your excessive sleep and your muscles changing. It takes 2-3 weeks before the medicine starts to work, so give it time. I showed my emotions by making huge scenes. It normally was towards my boyfriend or my father. I'd get so over-whelmed and anxious that I would scream at everyone. I didn't mean too, but it's how I expressed my feelings. After being in and out of different hospitals and being put on every medication there is, I learned that nothing was helping me. I had to help myself. I started taking control of my life. Depression can kill you if you don't get yourself out of it in time. If you don't feel like going outside, get up and go outside anyways. If you wake up in the morning and don't want to get out of bed, get out of bed anyways. Little things like that, can make a HUGE difference in your life.

As for your family, most parents that have never been through things like this before, really have no idea how you feel. They will say it's a stage that you will grow out of, but in reality teenagers are just as likely to go through depression just as much as adults. I would recommend seeing a therapist. They really do help a lot. It's someone that you can talk to about anything and they don't judge you and they keep it confidential even from your parents. The only thing they would turn in, is if you were wanting to hurt yourself or others. But they will have a session with you & your family to talk about what your going through and what makes you feel the way you do.

Good luck hun, let me know how it goes!

There are LOTS of meds out there for depression.
What does a wonderful job for one person won't
necessarily help another.

Don't give up on the doctor yet. If you still
have symptoms or symptoms you didn't have
before show up, call your doctor and let her know.
It make take a few tries until you get the
right combination of meds that help you.

Also keep in mind that you have to be taking
the meds for a week or two before they really
start helping you. They need time to get in
your system.

If your family members have never experienced
depression themselves, they may just not
understand. Next time you see your doctor,
It wouldn't hurt for you to ask her to explain
it to them so they understand what you're going
through.
