so recently i started getting high and i'm normally a pretty shy person. i mean i'm like loud around my friends and stuff but like new people i meet and stuff it's harder for me. but i was at a party last night and i met this kid and i guess i came off as a little bitchy at first and like quiet but then i smoked and he was like wow you're so much more fun when you're high and so basically it like makes me into the person i want to be.. like more fun and loud and stuff. like that's the personality i want. i'm like scared i'm gonna get addicted to smoking because i want that personality so bad. what should i do?

It does change you, which is why you feel like you NEED to do it to come out of your shell, when in fact, you really don't. It's weird, cause it's supposed to be a depressant, yet it gets you high. Again, I'm gonna be honest, and not to encourage you or anyone else to do it, but because you and I both know when I'd be lying. I like pot, for the same reasons you do. I hate being shy, and I guess it changes that. But that's the worst thing; you know it gives you the courage you don't already have, which is when you get MENTALLY addicted to it. That's why weed is called the Gateway Drug, because it opens you up to many, many more. Eventually the buzz isn't enough anymore, so you go out looking for more. What you SHOULD do is stop, and never touch drugs ever again. Of course, I'm being a hypocrit because I'm not ready to stop yet. Get away from friends that tell you it's good, and try talking to someone you feel you can trust. Good luck. [ DJzmAgUy426's advice column | Ask DJzmAgUy426 A Question ]
CherriBabes answered Monday September 1 2008, 6:03 pm: If he likes you better when your high then he dosn't like the real you. I used to be the same, except i was a chain smoker because it relaxed me and made me be who i wanted to be. Obviously liking yourself is the most important thing but i reckon that you should just try to relax a little and think yuno i only live once lol.. :) [ CherriBabes's advice column | Ask CherriBabes A Question ]
Comrade answered Monday September 1 2008, 5:27 pm: Questions of legality and personal safety aside, let me assure you that your personality isn't any better when you're high than when you're not. Chances are, the kid at the party was high himself. Chances are, he wasn't hearing half the things you were saying. Chances are, he won't remember you this morning.
I've seen people who are high. The loud and "fun" wears out, going from "fun" to "annoying" pretty quickly. Qualities like those aren't something you want in a close friend anyway. Overall I'd say this would hurt your personality more than it would help it. [ Comrade's advice column | Ask Comrade A Question ]
Brandi_S answered Monday September 1 2008, 3:42 pm: Wow.
Is that desire REALLY worth going to jail over?
No.
Leaning to drugs to change something about your life is FAR BE IT from smart.
Instead of that, why not try to work on your self confidence?
Anyone who says how much more fun you are when you're high is an idiot, sorry to say.
aidant1234 answered Monday September 1 2008, 3:38 pm: First off why are smoking and getting high? Its not good and it'll only do bad things to you. You cant get a new personality. Its something that you're born with. It makes you unique. I'm only 13 so I'm like anti drug right now but if your friends are doing things like that, then they aren't really your friends because there pressuring you to do things that arent good. Thats my advice. rite back. [ aidant1234's advice column | Ask aidant1234 A Question ]
