If you read instructions on the bottle of
peroxide on how to dilute it, it is safe
to use in your mouth.

I haven't noticed that it whitens teeth
but it does help get rid of bacteria in
your mouth that could lead to gum disease.

My husband was going to have to get one
of those awful gum scraping things done
and was told he had periodontal disease.
He came home and started using diluted
peroxide to rinse his teeth with.

Next visit the hygienist was shocked that
it was cleared up and wondered what he had
been doing. Told him to keep it up!

So I don't know if it whitens teeth, those
strips have to be sitting on your teeth a
while. However using it in your mouth is
not dangerous. It should be diluted though.
Instructions are right on the label.

A certain amount of bacteria is supposed to
be in your mouth. Using it 2 or 3 times a
week is enough. :)

Hydrogen Peroxide is meant to help disinfect small wounds, not put in your mouth.

Sure, it may be an ingredient in teeth whitening things, but I definitely don't recommend you try it. Your mouth will sting really bad.

Er, I'd recommend trying teeth whitening products that they sell in stores as opposed to harsh chemicals. Hydrogen peroxide is a really strong bleaching agent. I would not recommend putting it in your mouth because it is pretty intense. (For example, if you use diluted hydrogen peroxide in your hair, it will turn it peroxide blonde. Now think about putting it in your mouth.)

Anyway, please, please don't gargle with it. The only safe ways to whiten your teeth are to use store kits and whitening toothpaste or have your dentist do it.

I don't know that it works, it's very harsh. But I can tell you that it tastes absolutely horrible and I don't recommend it.

If you went to the dentist to get your teeth whitened, one of the ingredients used would be Hydrogen Peroxide.
Hydrogen Peroxide is abrasive and can cause damage to your teeth and gums. So toying around with it when you have no idea what you are doing because you aren't a dentist isn't the smartest idea.
So in answer to your question, yes, it whitens teeth, but you need the right concentrate and the aid of a professional to do it correctly.
