16/f..i'm about to be a junior in a week. and well..my wardrobe hasn't changed much. i did buy a few new clothes but found that i had enough from last year...and they're pretty good-in-quality-clothes so i thought eh. what the hell? i'll just wear them next year.
also, our family's on a budget right now..so i can't get around this. would you be embarrassed to wear the same clothes next year (in addition to a couple new) ? =\ it worries me. like what people would think...
There are a lot of clothes I wish I could have worn for more than one year, but I lost a lot of weight after 8th grade, and absolutely nothing fit anymore. But that's a different situation.
I have tons of shirts from last year that I still adore. Plus, why get rid of basics, like great-fitting jeans, just because they're a year old? Logically, I'd take EVERYTHING out of my closet, try everything on, and keep whatever still fit. When you DO get new clothes, get what you don't already have [for example, get a new hoodie, as opposed to more tank tops]
Making new outfits is really simple, and will eliminate your fears of "Hey, didn't you wear that same thing last October?". Mix & match, layer, whatever it takes. Secondhand stores can be a gold mine, if you really look.
If any of your clothes are looking faded or have stains/rips, try to fix them if they're worth it [and if you're attached to an item, it totally is worth the effort!] OxyClean Spray is a miracle worker- really. And Clorox2 for Colors keeps new [and older] clothes looking bright. Also wash in cold water. Rips can be often be easily mended with needle and thread- and if you can't sew, find a friend who can =]
Its No Big Deal If You Wear Clothes From Last Year As Long As They Still Fit Why Waste Them?. Just Mix The Outfits In Different Ways Noone Will No And Try Accessories In Different Ways To Funk It Up. But You Really Dont Need To Worry.

It's really not a big deal to wear the same clothing from year to year. I pretty much wear the same clothes every year, and people still like me. As long as they still fit, why get rid of them?
Anyway, you can always try layering different stuff and combining different items to give your wardrobe an upgraded look. Even if you go to like Target or somewhere and get a five dollar tank top to wear with something, it can totally change the outfit. Here are some ideas:
LOL_x0x answered Tuesday August 12 2008, 3:04 pm: Honestly? I don't even think people will realize you're wearing the same clothes. It's really not a big deal at all.
I actually think it's nice that you don't beg your family for money for something like clothes when the family is on a budget.
I myself do this all the time. I have a hoodie from 6th grade that I still wear, and a few shirts from 8th grade that I still like to wear. Why waste clothes just because you've already worn them?
Cux answered Tuesday August 12 2008, 1:42 pm: I would never be embarrassed, especially since that's what I already do xD
I still have a shirt that somewhat fits me from 7th grade. Haha how bad is that?
I just recently got a whole bunch of new shirts like back in March, and I would be stupid to not wear them just because it was a new school year. You're absolutely fine.
Just wear what ever the heck you want- who cares what you look like- people aren't going to remember you by what you wore on the first day anymore than what you wore yesterday or any other day. What people will remember you by is how you acted as a person- not what you decided to wear to impress people. If someone is going to talk to you and hope to be your friend only because you're wearing Hollister- what kind of friend is that? One that only cares about your appearance- not your personality. That isn't someone you should try to be friends with. Wear something that makes you comfortable and something that you like. If you like what you're planning on wearing- then so be it. Don't wear it for the wrong reasons.
Jehmehh answered Tuesday August 12 2008, 1:06 pm: I don't see anything wrong with that at all. It's not as if you're wearing the same outfit two days in a row, it's just clothes you had from last year. I always do that, mainly because sometimes I still really like the clothes I wore the year before. It's definitley not embarrassing at all, and if anyone has anything to say that's too bad for them. They need to get out of their shallow little world. [ Jehmehh's advice column | Ask Jehmehh A Question ]

I buy new clothing, and extend the variety of clothing in my closet. But still, I wear my old clothing. The older the better. Most people wont have it. Besides, no one really cares. Im sure people are too busy with their lives and dont find the time to realize that you are still wearing the same clothing from last year. The main thing that matters is the confidence you wear with your clothing. If you act insecure, then people will think you are pathetic and then they just might start criticising your clothing. However, act proud and no one will care. [ xxlilreddivaxx's advice column | Ask xxlilreddivaxx A Question ]
