pills

Question Posted Saturday August 9 2008, 11:44 pm

ok. just wondering, but is it dangerous if you take like 10 advil in a day? i didnt take them at the same time, but all within 24 hours, like 4 hours between. Is it still dangerous to do that? Or is it only dangerous if you take them all at once?
And if you dont do anything to help overdosing the day you took all the advil can it still affect you for awhile??

thnx.

i dont think it will effect you if you do it once, i've done it and had no side effects. but if you constantly do it then there will definitely be damage to your kidneys and liver.

you have to wait 6 hours between pills and cant take more than 2 pills unless instructed by your doctor. if i were you, id definitely go to the doctor and tell him/her that you acidentally (or not) overdosed.

Well I highly doubt it'd kill you, but I'd also say I doubt it's very healthy. Pills like advil can eat at the lining of your stomach, and cause dependance and addiction if you take too much. Just don't take ten a day if you don't really NEED to. I'm pretty sure the bottle says not to exceed ten, so depending on your weight, you should be okay thus far.

It's good that you're waiting four hours between. Taking them all at once wouldn't actually make you overdose, depending on how many you'd take, though. You'd actually just throw up in this case. It's something people don't generally know, but taking pills a few minutes apart is more likely to cause an overdose, because the body dosen't reject the pills if it's not in a REALLY large amount.

I'm not sure what you're asking in your last question. Since everyone's different, I can't say what would be the long-term effects of not doing anything about the overdosing. It could range from stomach issues, to death if you don't get your stomach pumped or anything.

If you ever even THINK you've taken too many pills, call a poison control center, or 911.

XOXO
KAT.

taking aspirin in general is bad for your stomach. it eats away at the lining. but taking 10 in one day really depends on your weight. if you're tiny, it's probably not too safe, but if you've got some meat on your bones, it's still probably not too good for you, but it shouldn't harm you.

the bottle should have that kind of info on it. i dunno how advil works, but ibuprofen says that you cant exceed more than 10 pills a day, and that you shouldnt take more than 2 every 4 hours.

i think advil is like ibuprofen, but im not sure. most pills are like that.

hope i helped!
