ive been trying to lose weight and its been the hardest thing ever.
i have to lose 15 pounds in 4 weeks, and trust me, losing that much will make me normal, not anorexic, so its okay.
ive been telling myself ill diet tomorrow, etc etc, but its so hard! like i keep eating and i have no self control. i used to look at pictures which would keep me determined but it doesnt work anymore.
S_C answered Thursday July 17 2008, 3:06 pm: I know this doesn't help you, but I really liked Xxx-lulu269-xxX idea of the money jar.
I think she was saying (if not, this is my take on it) that for every pound you gain, you have to put money away in a jar. For every pound you lose (UNTIL YOU MEET THE WEIGHT YOU WANT) you can take that amount of money out and use if for something you would like.
There are probably a few kinks in that plan to work out, but it seems like a cool way to keep motivated.
If not money, find something you like. Such as, for every 30 minutes of excercise, you can reward yourself (not with food, but maybe with 15-30 minutes of t.v time or something of the sort).
Find a way to reward yourself for losing AND MAINTAINING your ideal weight.
The reason I'm stressing the "only lose until you reach your healthy weight" is because I have suffered through an eating disorder and want to make sure you're careful and don't become obsessive.
15lbs in four weeks is quite a bit of weight to lose. You shouldn't lose more than 2-3lbs in one week. Maybe 15lbs in 6 weeks would be a healthier goal to achieve.
You could try really simple excercises to do, too. My friends and I have discovered some cool ways to excercise while having fun. Shopping - walking the mall, taking stairs instead of escalators & elevators. While watching tv, during commercials you can get up and do 15 jumping jacks.
Make it a competition for yourself. Tell yourself that you're going to do as many as you can until you get tired. Do that same amount for the week. Or, if you get an excercising buddy, it can make it easier. I LOVE competing with people and HATE giving up. I refuse to stop until the other person does (unless I'm literally about to pass out). If you're a big competitor, then having someone to do it with/against is a great goal.
Just make sure you don't start obsessing over it.
Here's a tip. If you start to feel hungry, drink a glass of water. If, after 20 minutes, you're still hungry, go ahead and eat a piece of fruit.
A lot of times your body will confuse thirst & hunger. It will tell you that you're hungry when you're actually thirsty. I've heard that drinking a glass of water will usually stop the hunger pains. If it doesn't, then you really are hungry (obviously).
Sorry my answer is kind of long and jumbled. I was really only tring to say that I agreed with Xxx-lulu269-xxX's answer if you could find a way to make it work. Then I thought of some stuff and kind of rambled on.
Good luck & stay healthy while losing your weight! [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]

You take a postit note, you put it by the place where you are most likely ot continue your habit. Then you mark each time you go without a set back in your habit. So for me biting my nails. I put it by my nail polishes. Everytime I go to bite I look at my marks that I was able to go with out doing my habit. So you make a promise with yourself, for instance, every 5 marks I go, I but myself something small that I like. That way its motivation to get to number 10 and keep on going til I finally kick the habit.
I fthat was confusing, just email me I can explain it a little better.
Good luck, youll be fine, just keep yourself busy so your habit doesn't become your life. okay?
Xxx-lulu269-xxX answered Thursday July 17 2008, 12:22 pm: Why don't you do something like everytime you put on/don't loose any wheight put some money in a jar - EG. $5 or something - and every time you loose some wheight (be it 1 pound or 5 - whatever) you take $5 out and buy yourself something nice - not food though, cos that will get you no where!
heybbylovee answered Thursday July 17 2008, 9:37 am: write it down. but don't just write it and forget about it. keep it by the fridge, look at it when you wake up and before you go to bed. write down what you want to change, how you'll change it, and how happy you'll be if you accomplish your goal.
don't keep the food near you. tell your parents to stop buying chips & soda, etc. etc. so that you don't become tempted. cut fruit into small containers / bags and keep them in the refrigerator for when you get hungry. and drink at least 65 oz. of water everyday. always keep water near you.
