I'd really appreciate answers from people who have actually BEEN pregnant, or are a nurse or something along those lines.
I'm not trying to say that other people don't know what they're talking about. I just need a REAL straightfoward answer, that isn't a bunch of myths.
Okay, I don't want to hear 'OMG YOUR SO STUPID!' Or any kind of lecturing. I know what I did was stupid, and irresposible. But, my and my boyfriend of 3 years recently had sex, it wasn't out first time together but it was our first time without a condom, and I'm scared I may have gotten pregnant. What I'm asking is simple:
What are the first signs of pregnancy, and when do they start? I can't rely on my period as one of them, bc that's irregular as it is.
No one should ever call you stupid or lecture you, couples get caught up in the moment, it happens to other girls too. You aren't the first girl and you certaintly won't be the last.
Some of the early symptoms of pregnancy can include:
-nausea (day or night, not always in the morning)
-fatigue
-bloating, cramping
-swollen or tender breasts
-changes in the appearence of your breasts
-headaches
-unusual spotting
Keep in mind, these symptoms vary in different people. For instance, you may have 5 of those and not have the others, this doesn't really mean you're not pregnant. They can start anywhere from 2-8 weeks after conception. This varies too, though.
Take a home pregnancy test. Go out, or have a friend do it for you, and buy 2-3 tests. Some test kits even offer two tests for the price of one. Take one, and if it's negative, you're probably safe. Just to be sure, take the second a week later.
If you still don't get your period and you experience these symptoms although you are getting negative test results, see your doctor to find out what the problem is.
amber_x answered Sunday July 13 2008, 10:14 pm: Just so you know I'll be 21 weeks pregnant on the 16th with my first child.
I didn't really have many first signs of being pregnant I waited for my period & when it didn't come, I took two different tests after my missed period & They did confirm I was pregnant.
But i took one about two weeks before that & It came out negative, when really I was two weeks pregnant at the time.
There not always accurate, You can't take them to soon.
I'd advice you to just simply wait for your period, an Take the test.
You can also miss your period by to much stress, an Sometimes even when your pregnant, Some people do still get periods the first few months.
Go let the doctor do a free pregnancy test.
I thought this would help.

turn-n-burn answered Wednesday July 9 2008, 8:27 pm: Hey, the signs can be different for everyone.... I think I had one that was the same between all 3 of my kids. With all of them I started noticing things like my eating habbits changing and having headaches, about 2 and a half 3 weeks. I had morning sickness with 2 of them, different cravings for food with them, but I did have cravings with all. My mood started to change and I could be in a great mood then on the drop of a pin I would be being nasty to anyone in sight with my first. I started feeling more tired especially with the last two.... Most of this was in the first few months. Hope this helps, if you need anything feel free! MistressSlipknot answered Wednesday July 9 2008, 2:25 am: well, considering that you've been together for three years, it isnt as bad as knowing him for a week. so dont feel too badly about it. To answer your question, every womans body is different. You could have some of the symptoms and not even be pregnant at all. But I would say, spotting on your period, or not show up at all, morning sickness (does not have to be in the morning) but it is where you are puking, or are very dizzy and just feel sick, moody (like when youre on your period or worse), your boobs are very tender or painful to touch, cravings for food (this is not always the case, because anyone can get a craving), tired all the time, and im sure cramps as well. Sarahs answered Wednesday July 9 2008, 2:06 am: Hey,
Not wanting to state the obvious - but the best way to determine if you are pregnant of not if of course a home pregnancy test (I suppose the doctor would be better).
Any other symptoms (especially if you're ruling out ovulation as one of them) are particularly unreliable and could be caused by stress or simply all be in your head due to the thought of being pregnant. Either way, here are some signs -
1. Darkening of your areolas (the skin around your nipples)
2. Tender, swollen breats
3. Fatigue
4. Altered sense of taste (Sometimes a metallic taste in your mouth or disliking things you normally like the taste of such as tea of coffee)
5. Cravings (not very reliant)
6. Morning sickness (Although it is usually common a few weeks after conception, it can sometimes happen within a couple of days. It also does not necessarily have to happen in the morning.)
Most of these can start anywhere between a couple of days to a couple of weeks after conception. I would really recommend finding a way to get a home pregnancy test before you stress yourself out and jump to any conclusions. My friend also thought she would be pregnant as she had missed a period, had cravings, sore breasts and "morning sickness". It turned out her period was just running late and a lot of it was in her head, she was getting sick from the stress of the possibility of pregnancy.
Take it easy and try not to regret what you did too much. We all make mistakes and there is no point in dwelling in the past. Take what life gives you and be strong.
Good luck darl. =]
