Immature

Question Posted Wednesday June 25 2008, 7:02 pm

17/f. On my cheer team, i am one of the oldest girls. There are some girls 2 years younger than me. I am pretty mature and even at there age I was pretty mature. Pretty much every single girl is extremely immature. They all talk about baby shows and make fun of people in childish ways, and mess with people who are minding there own business. I dont want to like talk to them about it so dont tell me that, but like when we all hang out its hard to really talk to them because they talk about things that i was into 5 years ago. like there still in the boys have cooties kind of stage only not as bad. how do i like deal with this, and not seem all shy when they all talk about stuff i find very annoying?! I'm really starting to get sick of all of them. Thanks =]

ps. im not all mature, serious, boring and stuff, so dont take it that way. im just more into the high school/college stuff, while there still in the middle school stage =D

Wow I get you! I'm only 15 but I've always been the one hangin out with the older crowd. So when I go to school, an I hang out with people my age, it's so annoying. Hang out with them, and when they start to make fun of someone and laugh, wait until they look at you, give them this messed up face(like wow that was retarted to even say) and just walk away. They'll get the hint. I'm sure that they look up to you, because you're friends, and your older ( I know I look up to them type of people) so just try and show them maturity. Maybe they'll follow in your footsteps, It just may take them awhile. If that doesn't work, then hang out with older kids on your squad. They'll have to grow up on their own.

Well, there isn't much to do other than confronting them about it.

But since you don't want to do that, try, like somebody said below, changing the subject. Try talking about things you're all into, like music or the cheer team itself.

Either that, or ignore them. Are there other older girls on the team? If so, try talking to them more than the younger girls. Let the younger girls talk to each other about their stuff, and you and the older girls can talk on your own.

The one thing I would suggest you talk to them about, is making fun of people. Just tell them it's not cool and you're getting sick of it. If possible, try to find somebody who feels the same way as you, so you can both tell the girls to cut it out.

Good Luck!

Ugh, that'd get annoying for me also.

Whenever they start talking about something immature, just change the subject. But don't like, abruptly change it or anything. As for them messing with people who are minding their own business - if they're about to walk over to someone and bother them, just suggest that you guys go do something different.

They'll grow up eventually. ;)

Good luck!
