Try some pink and orange. Do every other wall (i.e. - paint one wall pink, the other orange, pink and orange) and then add some funky striped bedding that has orange and pink. Pillows, pillows and more pillows!!! Some shag carpet is a must for a young girls room. Add a funky chandelier that can be bought at pbteen.com
When you are painting, make sure if you choose like a hot pink, to match the hot pink with a vibrant orange. Dont do dull colors. When you choose your pink, make it fun and hot!
Your young. Let that show. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO MIX DIFFERENT COLORS AND PATTERNS!

Check out some of those colors coordinated together and you find it very peaceful. Try adding candles. Bright colors sometime cause confusion (yellow, hot pink, those type of colors), try lighter colors such as pastel insead of brighter colors. Also, try to stay away from a red room. I love the color red, as it is my sorority color, however red on walls, curtains and beds tend to make people eat more, which is the reason many chinese places have so much red in their establishments. just some food for thought! I have also found that sea shells and beads or large earth toned beads in a jar or vase are also very calming and beautiful. Things reflective of water are also calming and peaceful. They have beautiful water fall type figures that are very relaxing. I have seen them at walmart even.
