My sister is trying to get pregnant and she came to me to have a personal talk the other day. She is overweight (290 lbs) or something like that...and she wanted to know if she could still get pregnant at her weight or if it is harder then the average person to become pregnant.
Razhie answered Friday May 23 2008, 10:42 pm: Well, yes she can still get pregnant, although some studies have shown it might be harder for an obese women to conceive. Obesity can also stop a woman’s menstrual cycle, and if that has happened, she can’t conceive. She should see her doctor if she is concerned about her fertility.
At 290 lbs she almost certainly is obese and that definitely puts both the mother and child at serious risk for complications even when/if she does get pregnant.
You sister should be STRONGLY encouraged to loose weight before becoming pregnant. It will make everything easier and everyone healthier. [ Razhie's advice column | Ask Razhie A Question ]

sweetipie205 answered Friday May 23 2008, 7:26 pm: Of course you sister could still get pregnant! There is no reason why she couldn't! She has female organs like everyone else doesn't she? Then why not? Her weight has nothing to do with how she could get pregnant or not. [ sweetipie205's advice column | Ask sweetipie205 A Question ]
Cinnamon721 answered Friday May 23 2008, 6:58 pm: Not at all. That's nonsense. If she wants to get pregnant, she can. She's a woman, and her feminine organs are working properly. Its not hard at all. She should mostly calculate her ovulations so she'll be able to get pregnant expectingly.
Just tell her to watch what she intakes, as certain food now-a-days aren't best for embryos.
