ok so i think i might have a problem but i'm not sure.
me and some friends when we want to have a good time..take a few of my prescription pills
at first it was once in a while when i did it,
but now i see myself doing it more and more
and i can't get rid of the pills because i do need them...but i am tempted to take more than what is prescribed when there around.
i take them in school too, today i slept through 3 classes because when the meds wear off you get low.
i don't consider myself a pill popper but i'm on my way to being one.

I am not going to tell you what you should do, but I am going to give you advice. It was normal of you to become curious and pop some pills with your friends, not smart, but normal. It should have stopped there but it obviously didn't and you continued doing it. I think you have begun to think of popping these prescription pills as normal and this isn't normal. Taking prescription pills is just as bad as regular illegal drugs. Abusing prescription drugs can be dangerous, leading to paranoia, seizures, addiction, even death.Prescription drugs can be just as addictive as street drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and LSD. And, abusing prescription drugs for the first time before age 16 leads to a greater risk of dependence later in life. Many people don't realize the harm associated with prescription drugs until it is too late. The effects are much more serious for young people when their minds and bodies are still developing. This is all fact that I think you should take in.
Now turning to the fact you think you need to take more when they are around, this is simple, PEER PRESSURE. Everyone faces it and you are strong enough to tell your friends no, just make up an excuse if you are to nervous to just outright say no. Say that you are sick or have to go home early or that your parents are waiting up and will notice. Just say no to them and they should leave you alone, it isn't that hard, give it a shot and you will see. You are smart for realizing that you are beginning to have a problem and since you realized it you can now start to fix it and stop all together. I hope I helped. So, my opinion would be to just stop taking them when you dont have to. Only taking the amount perscribed. Because this is nothing to play with. For one it isn't good for anyones health taking more that perscribed. It could cause problems later on in your life. Also, there can be very bad side affects from it even death.
so_confused answered Saturday May 3 2008, 8:25 pm: First bit of advice... TELL SOMEONE!! This is extremely dangerous, and you need to stop. I have to agree on the part about telling an adult who can regulate your meds. And as for your "friends", if they pressure you to do something that is dangerous to your health, I seriously doubt they are your friends. I know they just want to have a good time and stuff, but it isn't worth becoming a druggee. You need to stop yourself as soon as you can. One of my friends gat hooked on something, and I wish I could tell you how it turned out for them, but I can't. I don't talk them anymore because they tried to get me to do it. But I can tell you this, I am sure they are not living the life they want to. Please let me know how this turns out for you. [ so_confused's advice column | Ask so_confused A Question ]
helloxdear13 answered Saturday May 3 2008, 8:18 pm: I know you probably don't want to do this, but I think you should tell your parents or (god I'm going to sound like a cliche) at least some adult you really trust. You need someone to be around and regulate your pill intake. This is a very dangerous problem you may be on your way to, as I'm positive you know. You could die if you take too many too much.
Just please, tell some adult who can help immediately and kill the problem before it becomes too much. You may want to get a counselor or therepist as, sometimes they can help drug issues.
And when you do stop, don't ever take pills for a simple "good time" again. Thats very dangerous.
