Plateau of Weight So like..I'm 142 lbs now, which is still overweight. seeing as I'm approx 5 feet tall. I don't look fat.
Anyhoo, I want to (hopefully) lose about 10-15 lbs by the end of June. I have a lot of muscle except I have a lot of flab ontop of it. But no matter how much I cut down on junk food, eat healthily, and exercise 3-4 days a week for 1-2 hrs, I can't seem to lose more weight (I've lost about 4 lbs in a month?)
So what can I do to lose weight faster?

Actually 4lbs in a month is quite ok. If you arent very overweight, the weight loss usually slows a bit. Slower weight loss also often means that you are probably not losing so much muscle, which is good.
I actually think this is working for you, and you should be patient. However, if I were to give advice it would be on the diet front. I dont know what you eat so let me just give you some general guidelines:
- Its important to eat very often. You want to intake about 5 meals a day. Your calorie count should be the same, but the food should be spread out.
- You want to minimies calories from saturated fats, and keep fats in general fairly low.
- You must make sure that you intake small daily amounts of essential fats. Typically western diets have a deficiency in omega 3, and that can (amongst many nasty things) make weight loss harder. Omega 3 sources include fish, flax, walnuts, dark leafy vegetables, etc.
- Every two weeks or so take a day where you eat a good portion of calories over what you burn (say 500 extra or so). This sort of a controlled cheat day can help jolt your metabolism and avoid famine mode.
- Make sure you eat enough protein, and keep carbs under control. They should not be eliminated, but they must be eaten in moderation.
Good luck. ]
My friend had the same problem as you. She cut down her food and was exercising regularly but nothing was working... until she started running. I don't know what you've been doing for exercise, but adding some endurance running should help. It's not about how fast you run, it's more about getting a steady pace, keeping your heart rate up and doing it for a good amount of time. Try starting out trying to run a mile (that's 4 times around a standard track). If you get tired, don't stop completely, just walk. Don't forget to stretch before and after. Also, walk a little bit after you run for a cool down and drink plenty of water. ]
