Emo kids are not the average skinny jean wearing, hair straightened and dyed different colors people. I don't think these people are emo at all, even though they are recognized with the name.

Emo kids are tended to get laughed at because they over react to a lot of things and because they express themselves in lots of different ways, which is not really excepted because people don't like to be around them. Their gloomy and they never see the bright side of life. I don't see why people would like to be overly emotional to everything.

I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone reading this.

Unfortunately, they do tend to get picked on and made fun of often. You see, these days, just about any sign of emotion, self expression or creativity is looked down upon by many people. It's definitely not right to discriminate against them, I have many friends who are considered "emo," however, I only know them as "friend."

Yeah they do. Emo is just another sterotype people put on people who are different. Basically people just make fun of them because it's a rumor they may cut when really it started out as a type of music and style. For example; goth was a style for people who wanted to rebel and wear black and dark eye make-up. Basically emo is the same thing except they may wear there hair in front of their eyes. (yeah stupid I know.) I've been called emo before only for that reason which is really lame.

Yeah, they do. Generally speaking, people are afraid of things that they don't understand. I personally don't understand why someone would want to wear black, write poems, and listen to Dashboard all day. So it is kind of weird to me. Emo kids have a reputation of being like wimps or something too because it seems like most emo boys are really scrawny.

I think that for the most part, everyone gets made fun of, but people generally gang up on the emo kids.

Well it just seems to be a fact of life that in school everyone gets labeled as something. Whether it's right or wrong doesn't really matter it just is, what it is. As the Mother of two teens. A girl and a boy I have become very familiar with the term EMO's. From what they tell me, Emo's at their schools (one in middle and one in high school) kinda stick together. They of course are known for cutting themselves for whatever reason. Not really sure why. However because of this they are looked at by the other kids as kinda crazy and possibly dangerous. As my kids say if they cut themselves they won't have no problem cutting someone who messes with them. I have overheard my kids and their friends laughing about stories or incidents with emo's and other kids at school. Even though they do talk about them and laugh they wouldn't do it to their face. Or even within earshot.
They like most the kids, feel its better to be cool to someone who is living in that state of mind than to start trouble with them. In fact from what I hear the prep's get more grief by other kids than emo's do cause no one is afraid of them, and they act like they think their better than others. Therefore, they are much better targets for the general population of kids to pick on. Take Care.

Seeing as there is really no such thing as a human being emo unless they spontaniously combust into soundwaves and that all the children who seem to think they are soundwaves do is complain about how horrible their lives are and then turn around and shop at the expensive Hot Topic...

I personally believe that people who call themselves anything, emo, prep, goth, punk, whatever needs to seriously get a bit more of a life.

I'm sorry, I'm coming off as rude, but this is a touchy subject for me. People who are "emo" do not understand the concept of "emo" because if it really was "emotional" music they listened to and "emotional" people they were, than evry one and every piece of music could be classified as "emo".

Also, the "emo" bands (Dashboard Confessional, Hawthorne Heights) are really just a form of alternative pop. "Emo" was hardcorce screaming bands (that I personally dislike) from the 90s such as Indian Summer and Rites of Spring.

But that still doesn't answer your question. But that is the reason why the answer to your question IS "yes". Because these "emo" kids don't know what in hell they are talking about when they call themselves as such.

That was the answer to your question, and I hope that helped.

(PS, to find proof of Emo-make-fun-of, there is Patent Pending's Cheer Up Emo Kid song, the Smosh's Emo Kid song and other videos on YouTube if you search emo)
