Because sometimes when girls first get their period they may stop for a while. If you have had it for a while then it may be stress, you could be pregant, or just irregular. I would get a home prenancy test and after that, no matter what it says, I would see a doctor. Also remember that the mind is very powerful thing and if you are worried about being pregnant your body may have what is often known as 'false pregnancy.' This is when you stress so much about being pregnant or think you are pregnant that you may actually miss your period, gain weight, etc.

"symptom" I had with my first. A lot of
people don't get morning sickness or any
of that. It could be stress, but better to
know for sure so you can forget about it. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

Get a test, and then you will at least know one way or the other.
If you can't afford a test, your local county health department should test you free of charge, assuming you live in the US.
