Starting My Period

Question Posted Monday April 7 2008, 12:05 pm

Hi, i haven't started my period yet, and i am really worried it's going to start in the middle of a school day, or even worse PE!!! I know to carry a pad with me, and i do, and i were thin panti-liners just incase, but i was wondering if there is any signs i may be starting soon? I have a feeling i might be starting soon, but i dont know whether it is just me being silly! Also i get a monthly discharge, just like a period, but it's not blood. I'm 13

i'm pretty sure you'll be getting it sometime soon.
Before i started mine, i had a discharge but it was also not blood. a couple months after that, i had my period.

well a little before i started, i talked to my mom about it and she told me when she started and sure enough that's around the time i started. usually you will start the time your mother did...

and i don't know about you, but i had some really really bad cramps a day or two before.

and you you're also prepared, you'll be just fine no matter where it happens.

You are being prepared, which is really good. If you get it, and you kinda feel it, you might have gotten it. If it feels extremely wettish down there, then chances are you could have gotten it. So then go to the bathroom. It wont just bleed through it right away. You need a big amount of it. But if your wearing pantiliners, you should totally be finee :). You are more likely (however not completely likely of courseee) to start your period at home, or in your sleep, which is what happened to me. You will probably get it soonish, so its good youre prepared.

Before your period will come you may feel very tired. These signs come about 2-4 days beforehand. Your breasts can get tender and hurt. You may have cramps in your abdomen. You may be cranky for no reason (part of pms) When I started mine I did not have these signs but I do now. Your vagina may hurt as well when you are on your period. You seem prepared enough though, so all you can do is wait. Good luck!

I actually started mine right before I had to stand up and give a presentation when I was eleven, and even though I was so sure that I was going to die of embarrassment, obviously I'm still here to tell the tale. All women have their random quirks and discharges. Your period is probably right around the corner, and as soon as it comes, it will settle into a normal monthly pattern, and you'll be able to know when to be prepared.

well, since you are at such a young age your period will be very off and irregular when it starts. I know it is frustrating not knowing when it will come but that is a feeling everyone has. You are already coutious (sp?) enough and frankly that is all you can do. but dont worry, as you get older it will be more regular and you will have a better idea of when it will come.
