First cavity?

Question Posted Monday February 25 2008, 6:38 pm

I'm going to the dentist Wednesday to have them check out my very first cavity. Yeah, it sucks. I've had it for a few months, and I can see it. I can only feel like when I drink super-cold water and if i bite down on something on that side of my mouth and it, I guess, goes in it- ouch.

I'm wondering if getting it filled will hurt? I know they numb your gum & inject you with a numbing medicine, but I'm terrified of needles. But I can suck it up. I just want to know if a cavity like mine will be painful to be filled and whatnot? Thanks.

They did not numb me.
But-it does not hurt at all! I am also terrified of needles-so I was relived that I did not have to get numbed.
No-it wont hurt, at all. It will feel uncomfortable- because you cant close your mouth all the way for a day, but it is painless!
Good luck!

Ok, so I'm the biggest baby ever and I am terrified of going to the dentist. No joke.

I had to get a cavity filled a few weeks ago and I was so nervous and scared, it was awful.
But then I got there, and my dentist numbed my gums and whatnot, and it was nothing!
I had no reason to be nervous.

I personally didn't feel anything, and I'm sure you will be just fine.

If it makes you less nervous, bring your iPod or a book to read while you wait.
My iPod helped me =]
