my dog is throwing up blood?

Question Posted Friday February 22 2008, 10:23 pm

My dog is throwing up blood as well as pooping it. This only started happening a week ago and has only happened twice within a week apart. She has a really weak stomach and throws up alot but never blood. She is an inside dog and only eats dog food the same as always. I dont want to take her to the vet because everytime I do that it costs a ton of money and last time I mentioned it they said it was just a weak stomach and they would put her on meds, I really dont want her on any meds for the rest of her life She is only 7 years of age and healthy otherwise. Is there any thing I can do or should I just break down and take her to the vet because it has been blood????

Your dog is bleeding internally. This is serious. You should get to the vet ASAP. You can't be too cautious with this.
Maybe you could try going to a different vet to avoid the same diagnosis as the last time. If they do recommend drugs, get them! Her health should be top priority.

Ok first things first. Im a vet.

Your dog could be suffering Kidney problems, and could have diabetes. This kind of blood problem is extremely serious. And if you care for your dog enough you WILL take bring it to a qualified vetinary ventre.

Most dogs that are experiencing these syptoms have diabetes. Please dont let your dog suffer anymore.

We have just had to put down 3 dogs from the same problem as yours. It can be sorted if looked at IN TIME.

i had a cat with the same problem...it DIED. it sounds like kidney failure, which is very serious and can be deadly (case and point my cat.) you need to take her to a vet ASAP...no matter the cost, or theres a good chance she might die.

If you were throwing up and crapping blood, would your parents take you to the hospital even though it would be expensive? Yes.

Your dog's situation is very serious. No matter the hassle, cost, etc. you NEED to take your dog to the vet. If she needs medicine, you need to provide that for her. Anytime a pet excretes blood is a sign that you should take it to a doctor.

i am telling you, honestly, that is very very serious...i would just call the vet immediately if you are worried about the money...but they will mostlikely suggest you bring the dog in.
