I was just like you when I was a child. I could tear up for little things. I was a happy kid and not many things I encountered were insults. People were nice to me. As I got older, I encountered this with insults from dumb boys and mean girls. I cried at little things if one insulted me. I wasn't use to it, that's why. In 6th grade, I was a little stronger, but still a little teary. Nowadays, I'm stronger but somet hings I will tear up.

The answer to this is time..sounds lame, but its true! Like my story, each year I got stronger and stronger, being able to substain those insults or things that set emotinons to make one cry. Learn from your past. Then you will not tear up so easily of little things. Hoped I helped...at least a little.

Slow, Deep Breaths.

It sounds stupid, but I swear, it works. I have emotional bursts on the opposite end of the spectrum. Where you would cry, I get pissed off. Sometimes more pissed off than I have a right to be about a particular situation.

When I get angry, I stop, I take a few deep breaths, and I try to physically relax a little bit. Focusing in breathing for 10-15 seconds gives me something to concentrate on besides being angry, and it gives me a few seconds to compose myself. The same thing can work for crying.

I am the exact same way. I would get called into the bosses office to get reprimanded, even if it was something small but still I'd cry. Someone would get onto me, I'd cry. My best friend would give me a look and I'd yell and cry.

Being sensitive sucks, and there is nothing wrong with it. I would rather be sensitive that not have any emotion at all. However, I have finally learned that not everything deserves a tear now. I am to the point where I get mad. I'm not sure if that's any better, but at least I don't feel so vulnerable anymore, and believe me that's what makes it so hard to be sensitive is the vulnerability.

I would like to tell you that for one, you need to look at that person and think, ya know what I am strong and you are not getting to me, and two, try and remember that you are a person who is strong, independent, care-free, and full of life. If you look at your strong attributes when you are thinking about crying, it may help build your tolerance. I hope it gets better for you, good luck.

When you feel yourself starting to get upset, stop and think: "Is this going to matter one year from now? Is this as big of a deal as it seems?"

I'm sure you'll find that 90% of the things that upset aren't even worth your time or emotions. If you stop and think about that before you let yourself get upset, I'm sure you can prevent those tears.
