I have 2 ferret's; a boy & a girl. They both hack alot, and cough. I've bought some stuff to help it but it doesn't seem to work. Can this get serious, and if so what will cure it?

A cough from a cold can be treated with children's cough medicine; ask your vet for a recommendation and dosage.
A persistent cough is most likely a respiratory infection, probably viral.
A fever, yellow or green discharge from the eyes or nose, or congestion indicate a bacterial infection. In either case, see a vet. Another possibility is cardiomyopathy. Which is a heart disease.
But like the person before me said, you could just need to give softer food and cleaner water.
orphans answered Friday February 1 2008, 7:57 pm: try to give it softer, easier to chew food...it could be the problem. Also, make sure they always have fresh water, their throats could be dry because of old, or lack of water. you can also ask the people at pet goods or where ever you go for your pets, and ask them what they suggest. if it continues, i would suggest you see or call up a vetenarian.
GoOd LuCk!!!
