(against the hair) i can honestly say ive never had an ingrown hair there but when i shave up i do bleed. not like alot but some spots bleed and it causes alot of pain. so. what i usually do and what you might decide to do is: i shave against the hair then instead of shaving it every day i wait a couple days until the hair has grown out a tiny bit and i shave against the hair again. in the meantime i shave down. it keeps me from getting ingrown hairs and eliminates alot of "down there" problems.

If you shave against the hair though it can cause in grown hairs and bleeding so just shave with the hair. Which ever way you decide is fine though. You dont have to though. Its your choice. Some people who shave against use vaseline (this is for the 'front', not for the hair lower, be careful what you ever put down in the lower area and inside because it can cause reactions) to deal with the bleeding but there isn't much you can do about the ingrown hairs.
If you shave with the hair growth, it won't be a close shave but it shouldn't cause any bleeding provided you use shaving cream and are very careful.
Xyla answered Tuesday January 29 2008, 8:40 pm: If you're considering whether or not to shave, you should know that pubic hair is there for some good health reasons. It acts as a cushion so your labia doesn't get chaffed and traps bacteria from getting into your vagina and causing infections.
Ingrown hairs are also a problem. They're when hair curls back on themselves under your skin, causing red, painful pimples. If you nick yourself while shaving, the bacteria near your vagina may get in the cut and give you a skin rash.
If you still want to shave, (1) Soften hair with warm water. (2) Apply lots of shaving cream. (3) Use a brand new razor. (4) Shave gently in the direction that the pubic hair grows.
Cherry_Blow_Pop answered Tuesday January 29 2008, 8:30 pm: Shave against the way the hair is growing first. Then shave the other way. This helps because all hair might not grow in the same direction, doing it both ways helps a lot. Make sure you use a good amount of shaving cream (preferably the kind for sensitive skin) so you don't get any red bumps. Shaving is totally up to you. There is no definate yes or no to that. :)
