ok so i am doing this paper on racism in cartoons before 1955 and i am looking for pictures... actually a specific picture.
since this is such a wide topic i chose tom & jerry as my main cartoon and i remember as a kid when they use to put reruns there was this episode where jerry (or tom!) had a dynamite stick that blew up and made his face burn and the artist referenced "black people" by making the lips bigger and "swollen" and added ribbons all over jerry (or tom's) head....
there was also a merry melodies cartoon that had a girl with a fruit basket over her head and another with the ribbons and both with the swollen lips...
can anyone help me pleaseeeeeeeee to find these picture i tried google but i am not that good a searching! :S:S:S:S thank you so much in advance!

There are some, but not exactly what you are looking for. If you go through the individual episodes at the link below, you may find more on what you are looking for. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Sorry this isn't a picture of it either, however I have another reference for you. Remember the owner of Tom? How you always saw her legs but that's all? I remember her being black, I haven't watched it for years and I can't remember if she did anything bad or what would be considered racist to black people, however there must have been a reason for it.
As for the photo, try to google a paper someone would have done on the same thing, I'm sure you've already tried google but try googling different things. Also I would give photobucket and tinypic a search.

but the "reference" is actually called blackface
which was part of minstrel performances
