No one wants to cross the line with age. Even if you have a chance, people want to hire someone who could work full shift and overtime. They don't want to be flexible about it either especially if you need to finish homework, have a test to study for, or some sports/club thing.
I'm sure it will get tough when you're the age to get a job. I'm almost 17 and I put out so many applications. Now.. it seems people only hire at 17 or 18 years old.
Just wait until you're 15.. you will probably have a higher chance. It's more of.. if you're at the right place, at the right time.. you could get an interview or the actual job. My friend was turning 16 in a couple of months and they let her have a seasonal job at a Halloween store.
You'll have to ask around.. fast food places only hire 16 year olds. Departments hire at 17. You could try bagging at a grocery store. Just go in and ask what age. Don't lie about your age. That's the worst thing you can do.
Try:
camps
state parks
resorts
dishwasher
waitressing
pruning/mowing/removing trash from neighbors yard
Besides you need to get a work permit from your school. It has to be signed by your parents. It's looked by your counselors who monitor your grades.
Continue with babysitting. You can try filling out online applications or ones you pick up in a place for practice. you should have some experience with answering questions.. especially for department or toy stores. [ queenhearts's advice column | Ask queenhearts A Question ]

I guess if you were emancipated (a court of law saying you are legal as if you were 18) you could also work full time. Gee, this is a tough one but there's alway a possibility you could ask that you work under a contract position. I think that's a 1090 form from the IRS. Not sure how those laws would differ than being a regular employee. Basically you'd pay your own taxes on a service you performed after getting paid. That might work for you. Like another post I answered with someone with almost the same problem, you can try selling on Ebay or even craigslist.org However since you are underage, you'll have to have your parents or guardian set things up for you. Just be EXTRA careful about selling things online. You could visit flea markets and find objects that would sell etc... [ ChevyIINova's advice column | Ask ChevyIINova A Question ]
