CaliDaniels answered Monday December 3 2007, 7:08 pm: I have used Nair, and it didn't work for me. A friend of mine uses Veet, and it works very well for her. If these products don't work for you, you may want to try an after-shave lotion that prevents the red bumps from razor burn.

XoXoXoXo77 answered Monday December 3 2007, 9:03 am: nair doesnt work. and it smells realllllly bad.
so just stick with shaving. just use a lot of shaving cream and a good razor (not the disposable kind) and you should be fine (: [ XoXoXoXo77's advice column | Ask XoXoXoXo77 A Question ]
You_Got_Advice answered Monday December 3 2007, 12:33 am: i personally have not used nair, but everybody i've asked that's tried it said that it made them bleed and it hurt really bad XDD
but, its good to try it. different things work for different people.
a tip to not get razor burn is to shave in the shower, because your legs will be constantly wet. and shave as the last thing you do in the shower, too.
also, electric shavers are good to use because they never ever give you razor burn. i used to use an electric shaver and now i use the intuition shavers which are amazing but expensive to keepup with, because the refills dont last very long.
queenhearts answered Monday December 3 2007, 12:16 am: When shaving with a razor, try to avoid shaving twice in a week. Trying to shave stubble will make things worse and make sure you don't press too hard on the razor. You have to be .. uber gentle. But sometimes it's just not that easy.
So that's why we get nair that's for 3 minutes. The original one was made for 10 minutes, but no one wants to wait. Haha It really works well. You have to do a test though because it may irritate your skin. There's a raspberry nair and I got a bad reaction to that. So test the products out. It makes your legs really smooth when you wipe it off with a warm-hot washcloth.
It may tickle or burn though. It seems to burn for everyone even if they aren't allergic to it, so you have to tough it out.
It's not bad on your legs but on your upperlip, the amount of time given seems to be too much and your upperlip would look like you nearly rubbed it raw. So just leave it on your legs or armpits. [ queenhearts's advice column | Ask queenhearts A Question ]
lovestoned answered Sunday December 2 2007, 10:08 pm: I'm not sure how old you are.. but I'm 22 almost 23 and I didn't start shaving my legs until I was a Freshman in highschool. I was terrified. So what was my option? You've guessed it, Nair! It's an alright product to use. The smell is horrible. And if you're going to use it, don't rinse it off your legs. Use a warm wet washcloth to 'wipe' away the hair.
As for the red bumps, that's razor burn. To prevent that make sure you use a brand new razor (dull ones give you razor burn), it's also a good thing to let your legs soak in the water, it softens the hair follicle and makes shaving a whole lot smoother and whatever you do, DO NOT use soap, that makes everything worse!!
Melody answered Sunday December 2 2007, 10:06 pm: Nair only works if you have really long leg hairs that have been growing out for a while. So you wouldn't be to well off using if for the occational stubble, which is usually when I want to shave most.
If shaving gives you bumps, try changing razors or shaving cream. I absolutely love intuition razors, but you have to keep the refills changed out on a regular basis. Don't shave in the morning, because that will give you razor burn, and try not putting on too much scented lotions right after getting out of the shower. A little bit of baby oil should do it.
