UTI

Question Posted Saturday November 10 2007, 1:05 am

i had a urinary tract infection and my doctor gave me this powder to put into a class of water three times a day, and it finally went away. it was gone for about a month and a half when it's returned. i know it's said that urinary tract infections can come back but i'm nervous that this is a serious problem because it's too soon.

There could be problems with your urinary tract and when ever it is recurring it's never good. However, i use to get UTI's like once every two months. Then I started taking cranberry supplements (all natural) and drinking cranberry juice and they never came back. It's been 3 years since my last UTI.

The stuff he gave you must have helped some but chances are it didn't get rid of it completely.
It isn't at all uncommon for this to happen.
Doesn't mean there is anything more going on.

Call your doctors office on Monday and talk to his/her nurse. Tell her you were in recently for
a UTI, tell her what the doc gave you for it, and
tell her it was gone for a while but your symptoms are back. The doctor may simply call you in a new prescription for something else since you were seen not so long ago. :)

You should go to the doctor again. Do mention that you've had it recently, and if you remember what the powder is called, mention that too.

To reduce the chance of it coming back again, make sure you drink enough water, and go to the toilet when you need to (that is, don't try to hold it in if you really need to go).
