Pet rats vs met mice.

Question Posted Monday October 15 2007, 11:47 am

I want either a pet rat or a pet mouse.
These are the things I'd like to know:

-What do you recommend, 1 or 2 (rats or mice)
-Which is easier to take care of
-Which is more friendly
-Pros & cons for both.

Thanks :)

I've had both.

If you want a pet who will bond with you really well, I'd say get a rat. They're both cute, and nice to have as pets. But when you get a new rat, and they start to trust you, they bond with their owner. They can even learn to come to their name. And you can let them run around rooms in your house if you "rat proof" them. You can do that with mice, too, though. So it's really up to you. They're both just as hard to take care of- you have to clean their cage often and give them fresh foods, and give them attention and love. ALWAYS get two rats or mice. Especially rats- because they are very social creatures and need another rat to bond with, also. But they will love you just as much!! But you should look up more information online about each of them. and if you have any more questions, just leave one in my inbox- I know a lot about mice, and especially rats. Good luck!! :)

I had a rat and a mouse.

The rat was easier to take care of for its urine doesnt smell as bad. I had one but i played with him alot. I had 3 mice and theyre urine was a strong odor.

Rats are easier to take care of.

Rats are more friendly because they're smarter and can adapt to people quickly.

Pro of a rat - they are really smart if you are willing to work with it alot

pro of a mouse - theyre cute i guess?

cons of both. theyre both "rodents" and they bite and can infect you (like all animals but this is more likely of a rodent) and yeahh

Well, rats are more intelligent and are rather like guinea pigs, and mice and warm and friendly but do not live very long. Here's a site that has the pros and cons of both:

Hope I helped.
