Seeing a counselor & telling them that you're hurting yourself & want help is a good idea. They'll suggest ideas/techniques for you to stop, and they'll talk with you about why you're doing this to yourself. Talking really helps, so I suggest you see them at least twice a week. It seems like it's important that your mom doesn't find out, but you still do realize that you need help. Just make SURE that you get that promise before you reveal any information other than that it's a serious problem and you need help. Other than that, this hotline is always there for you too.

You see guidance councelors have to get a report an abuse or bruises cutts etc. Because its there duty as a guidance councelor to make sure everyone in your school is safe. My advice would be just come out straight forward about it to your parents and if you feel you can't go to your parents go to some one you trust like an aunt? Or cousin? Just tell some one. They would probably call your parents because your parents do have the right to know what's going on, and they would probably take you to a therapist or something like that. If you REALLY REALLY don't want your parents to know, tell your guidance counselor that you want this to be between you and him/her.
