Drinkning..

Question Posted Thursday September 6 2007, 9:33 pm

I had my frist blackout from drinking this past weekend. What does this really suggest?

Lately, I can't ear right, sleep right, I can't concentrate in school, and I don't know. I've changed in a lazy sense of way..
Everyone was telling me about what happened...and I just don't remember it for the life of me. What's happening to me? I've NEVER blacked out before.

Uh, you drank too much & blacked out because of it. Next time you drink, don't drink so much because you could become an alcoholic & drinking is dangerous when you're underaged. It's dangerous at any age, really.

This suggests that you're drinking way too much. How much fun can you possibly have if you're that drunk? What's the point if you can't even remember it? It's one thing to get buzzed and have a good time. It's another to get completely wasted. Lighten up on the alcohol before you put your life in danger. Limit yourself to a certain number of drinks. 2-3 is plenty. If you can't, seek help because you're well on your way to becoming an alcoholic and you don't want to go down that road.

The likelihood to suffer a blackout varies a lot from person to person. The extent of the blackout also varies. You very likely have experienced a partial blackout before this incident (almost all drinkers have), where a small part of the evening is forgotten, maybe a part of a conversation or something like that.

As far as I know blackouts should be considered a warning. Now, I dont know how old you are (school could be anything from elementary to university), but you should seriously consider stopping or at least cutting down. Particularly if you are still a teenager, since the brain is still developing substantially during that period.

If you are experiencing problems with your health, as you imply above, then see a doctor. Alcohol is one of the most dangerous drugs out there (it beats most illegal narcotics). Excessive drinking could have all sorts of negative effects on any number of your organs. That being said it could also be something unrelated, or something much less serious, but you should consult someone if this persists.

Good luck.

It sounds to me that you were close to alcohol poisoning, try to stop! your local health dept. has alot of info. on groups that will benefit you in dealing with staying dry. a dear friend of mine drank for many years and now has brain damage his brain nolonger tells his heart to beat, i never knew drinking could be that dangerous, but it is, you have alot of years ahead try your hardest to make them good ones.when you get a chance go to google type in effects of alcohol on the body and hopefully you will find a good glass of soda is a great alternative as i have. lots of luck honey stay strong BRIE
