muscle gain=weight gain?

Question Posted Wednesday August 29 2007, 2:35 pm

sorry this is so long! but any help is appreciated!

for the past 2 weeks i have had 3 hour soccer practices every day. sometimes we had an extra 2 hours in the evening. the practices go like this:
1 hour conditioning: stairs, sprinting, laps, agility ladders.
the second hour is scrimages and the third is drills that consist of mainly dribbling and running with some sprinting.

OK!! now for my question!

after the first couple of days i had lost about 6 pounds. then i started slowly gaining back but i dont feel like im getting "fatter" if anything i feel more in shape than i've ever been. and my diet isnt anything astounding i get recommended amount of calories, if not more, mainly from protiens and stuff i dont eat candy or drink soda.

COULD I HAVE GAINED WEIGHT IN THE FORM OF MUSCLE?

thank you.

Just like the other 2 people said, muscle weighs more than fat. You're probably gaining muscle. I don't know if you are a boy or a girl, but you're not going to get huge. You're not lifting weights, and, if you are a girl, most girls don't have enough testosterone to get big. A body fat test would be good. The scale isn't going to help a lot here, since muscle weighs more than fat and you might end up weighing more than when you started unless you were overweight.

weight weighs 3 times the amount of muscle, and as long as you "feed" your muscles, you'll continue to gain weight, achieve more defined muscles (legs and abs in particular because its soccer) and feel great. look in the mirror, and not on the scale.

if you DO want to lose weight, consume less calories, than you take in, easy as that.

Yes. Muscle weighs more than fat. Even if you turned fat into muscle, you could go up & a few lbs since muscle weighs more. Either way, you're still losing fat. You shouldn't be concerned about what the scale says. Go by how you feel & how you look. Since you are in a sport, it is common to burn fat & gain muscle.

-hope that helped!♥
