If you considered, went to, known someone who went to...
Question Posted Tuesday August 21 2007, 6:01 pm
I'm thinking about colleges and Im trying to narrow it down from like a million. Im a junior in highschool and I want a college that balances fun with studies and I want to become a doctor but i dont want to do pre-med, probably something with social sciences. I want a challenge but also good parties on the weekends and stuff. My current GPA (before entering junior year) is 3.9. So if you or anyone you know goes to one of these schools could you give me some personal info and feedback about it? Also, feel free to suggest any more based on my likes. thanks!

UCSB is beautiful. Everyone there is really nice and friendly, and the campus is really cute. They are remodeling right now, so it'll be spiffy when you get there. :] [ Igotamonopoly's advice column | Ask Igotamonopoly A Question ]

Columbia actually has the lowest acceptance rate out of all of those, and doesn't have that many department for medical things. Only for physicists and surgeons, so if you don't want to be either, don't go to columbia. [ advicegirl367's advice column | Ask advicegirl367 A Question ]
sdcutie717 answered Tuesday August 21 2007, 8:18 pm: Well University of Pennsylvania and Dartmouth are Ivy League schools, and I doubt you can get into either of them with a 3.9 unless you transfer. My dad went to University of Pennsylvania. It's not a very nice campus. Its pretty and everything but it's in a bad section of town. I wouldn't reccomend it. Virginia Tech... also reqiures a high GPA, and Vanderbilt. A lot of these sound like private schools. They are going to be a lot smaller, and more like high school. If you want more of the college life (sororities, parties, ect) but still want the prestiege, then Wake Forest University is a good one. It's hard to get into too, but if you get your GPA up this year and score well on the SAT, then you could have a shot. Good Luck.
