Cheerleading/Volley Ball

Question Posted Tuesday August 7 2007, 8:38 pm

Ok,so this year i want to take cheerleading and volley ball.

1.Cheerleading:

I really want to take it, i've wanted to take it since i was a little kid. I also want to take it to have fun, meet new people, just really get into school clubs. i have no experience, but i'm light, flexible, and i think i would be good at it. The thing is, i'm afriad i won't make it, should i go for it? Any tips, and what i need to do to get in?

2.Volley Ball:

I want to take this cause its fun,i'm really good at it. The problem is i've never tryed volley ball with out a hard ball. I'm kind of afriad i'll get hit in the face, i'm clumsy like that. Any suggestions on getting better?

Anyways, anything you know tips, how to get in, what you need to be able to do. Also, you don't have to answer both(even though it'd be greatt.), just answer the one you know,i wont mind. :]

thanks so much!

Well I do both. I am not going to do cheerleading again this year, but you should you know... practice. Practice jumps, cheers, (if you know any)and tmbling. If you have no experience, then you know try. At least try.

Next Volleyball, Is super-fun, I know! I am in "advanced" volleyball, I guess you could say. I went to some camps over the summer. We played with hard balls, and now that I'm on A Team we should be playing with non Volley Lites.

The Volley Lites are super soft, and then next up is.. well I forget to be honest. But you can go to Wal - Mart or where ever, and buy a vb that is NON Volley Lite. Like said, those are for the little people. Are there are vb's called "practice balls" that are really (okay not really) hard and you use them to, well practice. To get used to the feel, and also to improve your hitting, bumping, spiking, etc. with any kind of vb.

heyy! im 19/f. heres my advicee..

cheerleadings soo fun! i did it for a long time. be flexible, SMILE!!!, good facial expressions, attentive, stiff when u need to be, practice your toe touches (if u dont know what this is, send me a message and ill be happy to explain). cheerleading is pretty much just being happy n loud! so if you are, you will do well. also, wear your hair back for tryouts.

volleyball.. im not really sure i only played for a few years. i didnt like it because it hurt my wrists. but i know you need good hand eye coordination.

Good luck, please let me know how it goes & what you choose!!

Cheerleading would be easier to get get into and make. I dont know if its hard at your school but most schools its not that hard to make the team. As long as you have a good attitude and practice the routine that made up for tryouts. Volleyball is a whole diff story..you may think you're good at it but it takes ALOT skill and practice. Its not something you just automatically learn and if you havent practiced at all and wanna try out for the team. I recommend getting a friend and practice passing..setting and hitting before tryouts. Soo what im trying to say is..if youre not really into volleyball and just have as an idea..then i would choose cheerleading. You have to be committed to volleyball because its not easy.

this is a toughy.

i say you practice at both before school. leanr some cheermoves.
do cheers.
tumbling[like gymnastics]
and everything you need.
flyig will be taught.

for volleyball
do the same.
buy a ball and pump it up like a volleyball you play with would be.
i dont uite understand wut you mean by without a hard ball.
but hnestly if your good at volleyball just practice.

try out for both.

whicever one you make do that. and take the other sport in a sports leaugue.
if you make both i say volleyball. much better.
but i play volleyball so you know. me : D

but choose what ever oe you think you might succeed in.

if you dont make either.
dont be sad
just keep practicing til the next year
