You're looking to lose 3-5lbs per week. You should only lose 1-1.5lbs per week if you want to do it the safe way AND keep it off. Even if you do eat only 1300 cals and do an hour of exercise, you're going to gain all those pounds back when you reach your goal weight. Why? Because you can't eat 1300 cals and do an hour of exercise EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. And you're going to end up depriving your body of those much needed proteins, fats, and carbs, and that's not good.
Go to my forum and read the topics on Lose Weight, Toning Exercises, Stretches, and "Fats, Carbs, Protein wtf?" Topics. It should really help you out one understanding how to lose weight and keep it off. =)

you need to do alot more then that. 1 pound is 3500 calories. inless you plan on walking 4 miles a day, drinking like atleast 12 bottles of water, other exercises, and eating very very healthy, then forget it.
its deff. possible to lose that much in a week. its possible to lose that much in 4 days. i know this, because i did it.
if you do exactly what i just said, then yeah, you'll lose a good amount of weight. i have a really fast metablism, so maybe it might take you a little longer. but yeah, you have to really keep on track, and do really well. [ holahayley56's advice column | Ask holahayley56 A Question ]

In order to lose 3 pounds a week, that's 10,500 calories total burned. That means you need to burn 1500 more calories than you consume everyday. (10500 divided by 7=1500) Your BMR is your Basic Metabolic Rate, which is like how many calories you would burn if you did nothing all day. Say yours was 1500, plus the 500 that you would burn doing exercise. This means that everyday you are eating 1300 calories and burning 2000, which means you are losing weight by 700 calories a day, i hope your following this :o
that means in one week you will lose about 1.25 pounds per week.
3-5 pounds per week is not an extremely realistic goal. I think you should aim for 2 pounds a week. Add another half hour of aerobic activity and eat about 1200 calories a day.
good luck! [ loverrr7's advice column | Ask loverrr7 A Question ]
HeatherBT4T answered Sunday August 5 2007, 4:57 pm: That will certainly help but I don't think it's enough. Three to five pounds a week is quite a lot and not advisable unless you're rather overweight. If you do want to lose a few pounds though, I'd increase the amount of excersise you're considering and don't worry about the diet too much. Eating healthily is what's important. By all means, cut out any snacks you would eat and exchange junk food for healthier alternatives but have three meals a day and drink lots of fluids. Hope some of this helps and good luck with losing weight,
