I feel so stupid for asking this, but what EXACTLY is happening in Iraq? Why are we fighting them? What is Bush doing that is making him so hated? Is there anything else that I should know about?I really want to be politically informed!
P.S.- Also, what's happening in Darfur?
P.P.S.- Please, I want an answer from someone who is neutral about the war.

LOL_x0x answered Wednesday July 18 2007, 7:02 pm: Well, I'm not neutral on the war, I'm totally against it, so I guess I won't answer with my rantings on the terrible affects it's having on our country =/
But I can tell you about Darfur, as I just did a project on it back in May =]
Darfur is a country in Sudan (Africa).
The conflict has been going on for over 3 years.
It all started when 2 groups challenged Sudan's president. You see, they argued over the oil in Darufr, which is their main resource. As a result of these groups challenging the president, the government greatly increased guards, etc.
Basically, to sum it up, over 400,000 people have died because of the genocide. Another 2 million people have been driven from their homes, and forced to live in refugee camps in places like Chad. It's a really terrible situation going on. A genocide is a killing of a cultural, racial, or political group.
In other words, people are being killed, raped, kidnapped, bombed, and tortured. It's terrible, these poor, innocent, people having these things happen to them.
I hope this helps.
babiibeccaxx3 answered Wednesday July 18 2007, 6:59 pm: Its kinda confusing whats happening in Iraq but so believe including the Bush that there was weapons of mass destruction..like nuclear weapons in Iraq and he wanted to get rid of them. Well he used 9/11 as a toy to get the American trust behind him because he was so sure about these nuclear weapons. Well come to find out we did not find any and Bush spent so much money taking over a country. The only good thing that came out of this was getting rid of their dictator Saddam Hussaine. Now the United States is spending billions of dollars building this country back up again after we just tore it down for no reason and people are fed up with establishing a government there because the Iraqi people are not really helping us out. And there is also the situation with Iran. Iran is supposivley creating nuclear explosives and testing them which is banned by the United Nations. So the United Nations asked to inspect the treat and Iran will not let them in which is suspicious. Now during the war in the 1990's between Iran and Iraq (I forgot what there called but give me a break lol) the United States took Iraq's side (I forget why, I think for oil reasons) and Iran believes that the reason they lost that was was because of our interfeirence and now they hate us. So they create alot of tension in the Iraq problem as well wanting the United States to fail at something and laugh in our faces and we believe there making the nuclear explosives for an invasion on either Iraq or the USA.
Darfur is a completely different situation. It takes place in a certain part of Africa and people live in tribes in this area and most people in the United Nations believe that the area is being "ethnically cleansed" kinda like the jews were in WWII. But following WWII a law was passed that any country that believed a ethnic cleansing was going on that country would have to take immediate action of face charges, thats why no one is stepping up. First off Darfur will not let the United Nations in to investigate and big countries have there own problems to worry about like the USA with Iraq. And no one wants to relive the emotional pain WWII left on our society. But if you think about it we should take action because somethings wrong if they dont let the United Nations in and if we let it go too out of hand like we did with Hitler it could lead to another World War.
christina answered Wednesday July 18 2007, 6:55 pm: I'm not exactly neutral about the war. I'm basically against it, but I'll give you my best opinion anyways.
After 9/11 happened, Bush invaded Afghanistan & ruined them. He then decided that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction & invaded them to get them. He THOUGHT there was, but they've still yet to find them. Idiot reason number one.
I don't like Bush because I think he's a moron. As far as I know, he tried to sell NUCLEAR SECRETS to India. I'm not sure whether they like us or not, but if we do something to them that they dislike, there's no doubt in hell they'd make those weapons/bombs and beast all over us with them. As someone who loves life & doesn't want it taken away for a stupid reason, I disagree with what he did. I'm so glad he's going to be out of office soon & if someone from his family happens to be elected in [hopefully, that won't happen], you can guarentee I will be saying goodbye to America.
Another reason why I disagree with what he's doing is because he keeps dicking around with North Korea. They have nuclear bombs. If he pisses them off or bombs them, they can easily take us out in three bombs & there will be NO MORE United States. Not only that, but he's killing innocent people everytime he does something. And it's not just other people he's killing, it's his own people. He sends them to war when there shouldn't even be one. So not only are they being sent to war, but they're being sent to their deathbed too.
Just know that your president has NO idea what the hell he's doing with the country & he needs to leave the Middle East be & get to the problems on his own soil. He's too busy trying to solve everyone elses problems that the country we live in is falling apart. I'm not exactly sure what's happening in Darfur because I rarely ever watch the news, and when I do it's because I'm bored. So, Darfur, you would need to Google.
But he's hated for the decisions he's making & the things that he's doing. He has no idea how to run a country, but that's simply my opinion. If you need to know more about the War in Iraq or Darfur, you can always Google it or watch the news.
Master_Betty answered Wednesday July 18 2007, 6:43 pm: It's far more complicated that this, but:
The war started because The UN weapons inspectors weren't allowed to do thier job properly.
George Bush then decided Saddam Huissain was hiding weapons of mass destruction (nuclear arms and biochemical weapons and such)
Britain jumped on the bandwagon and together we blew up Iraq.
To this day, even after Saddam's death, there have been no weapons found, so the war was in fact illegal, and America had no right to invade in the first place. That's where the critism starts.
Since then, America and Britain have held the country under martial law and have no introduced a democratic government there.
A lot of Iraqis dont want that etc. and conflict ensues.
It's still not sorted and it's a hell of a mess.
The long and the short of it is that Bush invaded on a hunch and was wrong - thats why everybody hates him - that and he's an idiot :/
There's also the argument that he made up the WMD claims to get his hands on the oil, another reason people dont like him. Personally, I dont really care either way - but that's the situation to my knowledge. [ Master_Betty's advice column | Ask Master_Betty A Question ]
