Make tight curls. Then, brush it out with your fingers. Don't use a brush. Add a little hair spray, and you're done.
You could also use a curling iron that's an inch or two thick. But I like the first one better.
Be prepared to sit there for over an hour to do your hair. I have really think hair too, and it's kind of long, and it takes me a good hour and a half to curl it. Just watch TV while you do it and time will go by much faster. Good luck! :) [ advicer's advice column | Ask advicer A Question ]

The actress/singer is Miley Cyrus and it is her hair that has the loose curls. You should really know the correct name of the person whose hair you would like to mimic.
Anyway, a simple curler, hair dryer, and curly brush could do the trick, especially if you want loose curls. Make sure that you get one of the bigger, thicker curling irons though. The smaller ones will work, but not as well in my opinion.
Or, another simple thing to do, go to your hair stylest or someone you know who is good with hair, ask how they think you should do it. [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
Helpful answered Wednesday July 18 2007, 12:34 pm: You could use a hot blow dryer and a round brush like rollers. There are a lot of inexpensive products tath help curl to stick as well. If your hair doesn't hold curl very well, try using a tight curling iron and let the curl fall out. Good luck with that! [ Helpful's advice column | Ask Helpful A Question ]
Mollysie answered Wednesday July 18 2007, 12:34 pm: I have thick hair as well, in order to get that look it's going to take a lot of time. Straighten your hair with a hot iron, and then use a big curling iron. The straigthening will make your hair a lot thinner, and easier to handle. Then get a big curling iron and curl the ends, or the entire head. The run your fingers through the curls. It will make them loose and fun. Also purchase a straightening product or shinning product from the drug store, so your hair isn't frizzy and dry. Garnier Frutis has lots of products along those lines. Also spend time looking at reviews for different straighteners and curling irons. CHI is a fabulous brand of hair straighters but they are very pricey 100-300$. The good thing about those straighters is that if it breaks they send you a brand new one, so you are garenteed a straighter for life! And it doesn't fry your hair as much as some do. Curling irons vary, in price but find one that is large, and you can make big curls with! Good luck! :)

mariahneu answered Wednesday July 18 2007, 12:28 pm: I would try going to see a hair stylist and seeing if the can do it for you, because it would probably be easier, and it wouldn't wreck your hair if you did it at home the wrong way.
If you don't like the idea of going to a hair stylist, I'd try straightening your hair, and then putting in the hot rollers. That may work, but I'm not really sure.
