Omg..I cannot stand it when people use your instead or you're or their instead of there or they're.
OH MY GOSH. Example : Your so stupid. & Their retartarded. & Their you are! & You're shirt. And...would you look at that...another error! : Are princess. -_- (meant to be "OUR princess")
GRR. This happens a lot to me. Like I see people doing it over and over and over again. It annoys the hell out of me! Would it be too rude to correct them? They should know by now, right!?
yes, they should know by now. it drives me nuts when people make absolute fools of themselves with grammar and spelling. my friends get me to proofread their english papers and application essays for stuff because if i didn't, they would look like total retards and end up as hobos for the rest of their lives! although it helps me to read books because the grammar is almost always correct. it makes me feel better. but if somebody uses the wrong they're/there/their or your/you're online, either correct them and make them look dumb or don't say anything at all if it bothers you. They won't take it offensively unless they're overdramatic. Plus, you're the one helping them with something that should've been learned in Elementary School =]
BlackAngel answered Tuesday July 17 2007, 11:53 am: It's probably not the nicest thing to do...but someone's got to correct them before they try to turn in academic papers with basic verb tense errors all over!
It drives me nuts too and I correct people - writing, speaking, doesn't matter, I'll correct them.
If they get mad at you, tell them, "sorry, but if you don't use the right tense in your writing, you'll look like an idiot who never learned basic grammar." Or something like that.
As long as you're fairly polite about your corrections, DO IT!

soendearing answered Tuesday July 17 2007, 11:22 am: Nope. I correct people all the time online when they do that. When they type the error, just be like "Their*" and they'll probably ask you what you mean by it; just tell them you hate when people make errors like that so you had to corrected it. xomegaroni answered Tuesday July 17 2007, 11:17 am: I don't see a problem in correcting them. Try not to be rude about it. These are common mistakes, but should be corrected. Its something learned in elementary school. Its proper english grammar.
