College guide books

Question Posted Sunday July 8 2007, 3:45 am

What is/are the best college guidebook/s? For example, Princeton Review and Fiske? I'm looking for reviews of colleges (I know I can look at the collegeboard or princeton review sites, but i'm interested in a book,) statistics and also how to get accepted (what those colleges look for, etc.) Basically an all-in-one college book (or if thats not possible, the best of all of the side-categories.)

I hope this made sense, I'm about to go to bed so I'm a little tired, but I'm sure whatever info you guys give me will be great! Thanks in advance!

there is a book I have. My school bought for our whole senior class (well at the time junior class which is now going to be seniors) and it is amazing! I am not sure where you can get it, but I am figuring they have it at any book store or online.

its called 2007 edition America's best colleges written by US news and world report

it says it helps you:

How to be a standout student
Finding the Right school
The latest on Loans and Aid
Extra: Fershman Survival Guide

Basically it lists every college and university in the state and all of there requirements, statistics and stuff like that

it also have different articles in the beginging about getting ready for school and looking and stuff

the price on it is $9.95 and its def worth it

the only con is listed under each school shows its 25/75 percentile which SAT or ACTs and some of them are a little of compared to what the actually schools site says.. but its def a great way to start

the book even says what the costs and everything are

its the best book I could have ever gotten!

The College Board makes a huge huge book. It breaks up the colleges by states, and shows you the requirements like GPA, SAT/ACT scores, class rank in freshmen admitted. Plus they show majors too, and give you admission dates and such. The book's huge though you'll never miss it.

Also Princeton Review makes a ton of books about colleges that give details about the colleges like what students have to say and such.

This one is an example [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

There's more like [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

And I think they have others like the best schools if you're on a budget, and the best schools in the Northeast. If that helps you.

Fisk is good too.

Honestly, I have the Princeton Review book for the Northeast, and the College Board book. The College Board book goes into what you can major and minor in, and the Princeton Review book tells about what the student body is like, and what students think of the school. When I was in Barnes and Noble I thought those two books were the best ones.

Hopes this helps you tons. Good luck searching for a college and if you need message me. :)
