Keratosis Palaris.
I have it, yes, it sucks. Trust me ... I KNOW.
Haha, you can actually help it though.
Lay out in the sun for at least thirty minutes 2-3 times a week & use this stuff called Hawiian Tropic Golden Tanning Lotion 6 SPF while your out there. For some reason, that helps it alot. Also, ALWAYS keep it moisturized no matter what you use. Go to a dermatologist to if it gets real bad -- they`ll give you some stuff & you just have to keep trying things till they work. If you don`t want to go to one, go to a vitamin place & get the Omega 3, 6, & 9 -- it helps it alot -- or just get Vitamin A. It`s good for acne too I think.
& don`t worry, it won`t always be like that.
It gets better when you get older. No, it never completely goes away, but it gets less noticable. ]
I think what you are talking about is Keratosis or 'chicken skin'. It's an amazingly common, genetic skin condition that they say will affect about 80% of teenagers and will continue for many people into adulthood...
If it really bothers you it might be worth seeing a dermatologist over, or even just asking your pharmacist for some free advice.

I will add my completely unsubstantiated opinion: I've had chicken skin on my legs for as long as I can remember and the new Olay moisturizer with Body Ribbons is the best non-medical thing I've ever found for it... ]
I don;t know the medical name for it but in "slang" or whatever its called chicken scratch. You can't get rid of it but you can try to minimize it, use cream thats made to decrease redness, the bumps will be less visible, and you can also get acne body wash (even though this is no acne) to help lessen the bumps as well. ]
hey, well i used to know what it was called, but im not sure if i still do. it begins with a "k". like kiloparlarius or something. hold on let me google it. im sorry, but i cant find it. hopefully another advicenator will read what i wrote and it will ring a bell with them. also why dont you ask your doctor what its called?

It could be eczema.
I have it, and it sounds like your description.
Also, it isn't contagious, but can't be cured.
You can get prescription lotion for it from your doctor or a dermatologist.
It helps a lot.
But all around, it's not big deal =]
