Every person develops differently. Some of us walk at 10 months of age. Some of us don't walk until 16 months of age. All of that is a range or normal. I know how stressful it is not to have developed while a girl who is a year younger than you has already.
Just remember this: her ability to menstruate is not a sign that she is better than you. It does not take intelligence, skill, a good personality, or even hard work in order to menstruate. It only takes your body's ability to produce hormones. Women in comas have periods. The ability to bleed is a milestone, yes, but it is not an accomplishment.
You must simply trust that your body will do it when it is able. Until then, no amount of worrying will help. If you think this girl will embarass you at her party, you should either choose not to attend, or attend, but understand that the ability to bleed is not something she earned. It's just a bodily function. It will happen for you and you will have your party.

You're actually lucky that you haven't gotten it yet. Let me tell you from personal experience, THEY ARE NOT FUN! Once you get it, you will wish that it would go away, I promise. It's nothing to look forward to. And actually, studies have shown that girls who develop later will grow for longer, so they will end up growing more than the girls that developed early.
Erinn_the_bamf answered Thursday July 5 2007, 3:38 pm: Babe, be happy you don't have it. It really sucks. Sure, having a ceremony may be fun, but periods are not. You get cramps. If your period comes early you can bleed through your pants, letting everyone around you know you're having it. I don't know why someone would want to show off about their period. Be happy you don't have it yet.
If you really want it to come there are some things that slow it down, including stress and excersising a lot. So try not to be so stressed out and excersising less if you really want it. [ Erinn_the_bamf's advice column | Ask Erinn_the_bamf A Question ]
