cotton bras

Question Posted Monday July 2 2007, 4:52 pm

do you have to handwash when you wash cotton bras? or any type of bras? because i heard that if it's washed with the washing machine, it will ruin the shape and form of the cup and it will get damaged...

most bra's will be okay the first couple times through the wash but after awhile they wioll start to deform. so what i do is put them in the waching machine but let them hang to dry.

If you have a lingerie bag (netted, usually with a zipper) it's good to wash them in that, but it's generally the dryer that hurts them. Let them air-dry.

If it's a padded or shaped bra, hand-wash it, otherwise it can get all deformed.

It's the dryer that ruins them. The heat destroys the elastic.

I'd only handwash a bra that was really insanely expensive- like a certain Victoria's Secret bra you bought because its exact shape & style mateched a dress, or something. It's honestly not worth the effort; bras wear out before you'd damage them from washing anyways.

I don't really go by the instructions. I wash mine in the washer, and they turn out fine.
