It doesn't hurt when they do it, but about 5 hours after you get them on, you can't eat, and it akes. Take tylenol or something, that should clear it up. let 1-2 days for it to still hurt when you eat. Eat soft things like...oatmeal, apple sauce, pudding, etc. eat ice cream :]

Teza answered Sunday December 30 2007, 12:59 pm: The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour. It all depends. I still have my braces on but when he was putting them on, it didn't hurt at all. It's a little uncomftrable because they put this thing in your mouth that makes it wide and the glue that they put on your teeth tastes a little sour. You're going to be in pain after the braces have been put on because the braces are pushing pressure on your teeth. Just make sure you eat soft foods during the first couple days and take some advil. It's all worth it though and make sure you take good care of your teeth. They're going to explain to you how to brush your teeth and what you can and can not eat but you'll be happy with the results! Guidance_Girl555 answered Sunday December 30 2007, 12:17 pm: I had braces!Actually I had a lot of work done in my mouth and I was just as scared as you are, but don't worry, in the end I was happy with the results so it was allll worth it!
In my opinion it didn't hurt, I told the orthodontist when I went in that I was terrified, he just told me to relax and that everything was going to be fine, he explained to me what they were going to do and about how long it would take them. Afterwards my mouth felt a little weird for a few days, but eventually I couldn't even feel them anymore. Next thing I knew my braces were gonna be removed!
I say ask your orthodontist questions when you go, tell him your nervous and I'm sure everything will go great!
Good luck and have a great New Year! [ Guidance_Girl555's advice column | Ask Guidance_Girl555 A Question ]
woahhbaby answered Sunday December 30 2007, 11:46 am: I had braces! The process of putting the braces on did not hurt for me at all!
It tastes really weird because to glue on the brackets they have to put cement on your teeth! It's so strange, and it tastes totally weird!
It starts to really hurt hours after you get them on. Everyone who i know that got them can only eat mashed potatoes for like 3 days because it hurts so bad! Just remember to take tylenol or advil, it will help the pain.
I think it's worth it in the end. I think everybody looks SOOOOOO GOOD once they get their braces off.
orphans answered Monday July 2 2007, 12:44 am: well i personally have never gotten braces..but i asked my friend who's gotten them before.
she said it takes around 45 minutes and it doesn't hurt when hes putting them on but it hurts after because your teeth aren't used to all the pressure..but after a week that pain should fade.
