This is my third day of having 1200 calories or less. My basal metabolic rate (according to an online calculator) says that I need around 1475 calories for my body to perform normal functions.
How can I tell if i'm in starvation mode right now?
And if I'm not already now, how long will it take before I do go into it?

I guess "starvation mode" refers to that change. So, yes, your body has probably already made that change. Cutting down calories isn't an efficient way to lose weight. When you cut your calories like that, your metabolism adusts to only burn that many calories. If you normally ate 2500 calories a day, your metabolism is set to burn about that many calories in a day. After your body realizes that you have taken a cut in calories, it will start to only burn that many in a day. You are much better off eating the right kind of foods and eating the normal amount than to cut your calories back so far. Trust me, I've done it and it doesn't work as well as you would think.
I'm probably going to get a bad rating for this, but you really need to know that this is not healthy, and in the long run, you will regret it because your body will hold on to anything it gets, and when you do start eating normally again, you will gain the weight back much faster. I know you've probably heard this a million times, but its true.

I'm not trying to be rude, but don't do it.
That's terrible.
You're just damaging your body.
Please don't do it.

It'd go into starvation mode if you ate like 600 calories a day and that was it. You know you're body is going into starvation if you get seriously bad hunger pains. Try to keep eating the 1200 calories to avoid starvation mode. If you do that you'll metabolism will go into whack which isn't good.
