Braces question

Question Posted Sunday June 24 2007, 3:32 am

How many hours a day is it okay to have your rubber bands off?

Because I always sleep in them for the whole night but I have them off at random times during the day.

Do they LITERALLY have to be on 24/7?

thanks

First off, thank you for reminding me to go put mine in.

Anyway, you are supposed to keep them in as close to 24/7 as possible. As you can see, you obviously forget sometimes. Take them out when you brush your teeth. Some orthodontists say to take them out when you eat, some say not to. But the longer you leave them in the quicker your braces will come off.

Wear them as much as possible. Whenever you're not eating try to wear them. My brother and I didn't, and we both had to get springs, which are extremely painful as well as uncomfortable.

no, like when you eat or brush your teeth you can take them off. but here's a little secret... it doesn't really matter that much if you take them off, because when i had rubber bands i had to have them for like 6 months and i didn't wear them once. and i got my braces off at the same time as i would have if i had had 6 months of rubber bands. so i'm not telling you to not use your rubber bands, but don't stress about it if you forget to put them back in or something. it's actually really good that you sleep in them though.

No you don't have to wear them 24/7, if you take them off now and again it's okay as long as it's not long periods of time (an hour)

But generally it is a good idea if you want better results to wear them most of the time..x

I Have braces and i dont have the rubber bands given to me, but that was because i only have them on the bottem. But my friend has them on top and bottem, but she keeps them in 24/7, but this is so it can make your teeth straighter and quicker.
Any more advice, dont hesitate to contact me.
