i dont understand whats so wrong about illegal immigrants. i mean like mexico is right next to us.. and maybe people living in bad conditions move to america but cant afford to get like amnesty. like i watched the news and the people get so mad about it. like they said that americans should get jobs before the illegals and stuff like that. well escuse me but they are people too, and lets not forget that americans one stole the land from the indians. what about that? if you said that those super governmenty people would probably laugh in your face but its true. they dont "own" america. sure they are our government but i think its really unfair how they're so against illegals when its not that easy to get amnesty and stuff. like in different countries, i heard like a long time ago people would move from like some bad place in asia to a better place but they'd get in trouble or something when they did that. what happened to america being the land of the free? i mean i understand that they are trying to not get more terrorists.. but i think they went too far when they made that wall thing. what do you think?
and Cuba like you need permission before going there cause america doesnt like communists? what the hell? why doesnt america love communists. scratch that, why doesnt the government like communists? in china they are communists. how come you dont need "permission to go to China"? like these people on the news were shooting a movie around cuba and didnt get permission before going there and after they went people say they'll get in trouble and stuff when they didnt even know that they needed permission. if they get in trouble that would be really crazy.
and lastly, what do you think about the new paris hilton thing? i saw on tv that jail really helped her be a better person as she says. and shes gonna do all this stuff to help people in need of help, and she appreciates all she has and stuff like that. do you think it will last once shes out? just an opinion.

2. you need permission to leave cuba because of Castro. its hes rules and whatever he says goes, thats the bottom line. the u.s has no say in it. we dont support Castro's beliefs therefore, we dont trade with them unlike how we trade with China. China isnt ruled by a dictator like cuba is and we support them. research it if you really want to know more about it.
3. it wont last. shes just saying that. shes a person just like i am so why does she get special treatment while if i was driving under the influence with a suspended licence or whatever, i would be put it jail. its just my opinion though. Jeanne answered Saturday June 23 2007, 10:20 pm: You're right... there are millions of people (billions, actually) who live in places where they don't have the opportunity, or even the right, to make a better life for themselves. Many of them would love to move to the U.S. or other countries where conditions are better.
Actually, the U.S. is a very generous country and we DO allow a large number of immigrants to move here each year. But there has to be a limit. If we said, "Okay, everyone come on over!", we'd soon be flooded with more people than we could could take care of. There wouldn't be enough jobs, schools, housing, etc. for everyone. So we have a limit on the number of immigrants we allow to move here each year.
When people sneak in illegally, we get more people than we can handle... and it puts a big burden on our government. We have to help pay for their food, housing, medical expenses, etc. We have to build more schools, jails, clinics; and hire more teachers, social workers, police, etc. to handle all these people. This all costs money, and where does this money come from? Our taxes.
Ask your parents how they feel about the taxes they pay, and if they'd mind paying even more so we could take care of illegal immigrants. And how would YOU feel if your parents had less money to buy you all the things you want? Are you willing to give up your computer, cell phone, nice clothes, activities, etc. so that people who have broken the law could have those things? If so, you're a pretty generous person. But not everyone feels that way. Most people want to help others in need, but they also need to take care of themselves and their own families. [ Jeanne's advice column | Ask Jeanne A Question ]
MyHappyShoe answered Saturday June 23 2007, 10:17 pm: Let me start off by saying people like you infuriate me. I don't really care if you give me a bad rating or not- I'm going to give you a piece of my mind anyway.
First off, the LEGAL citizens of the U.S. get angry over ILLEGAL immigrants coming in ILLEGALY because it's, um, ILLEGAL. The immigrants don't have to pay taxes since they aren't registered citizens and they are STEALING the hard working tax payer's money. People also get angry at them for taking jobs because they are ILLEGAL immigrants and LEGAL citizens should be given the job first. Honestly, if the ILLEGAL immigrants wanted to come over here because their own country is THAT BAD then they should apply for a green card to get citizen ship in the U.S. I know it sometimes takes YEARS to get a green card, but they have stayed in their country for X number of years so a few more wont hurt them. That "wall thing" is to keep them out so they will request a green card. I, personally, think they should have made it stronger and bigger so the ILLEGAL immigrants couldn't find any way to get through so they had no choice but to request citizenship.
For the second part of your question- don't act like you know all the facts about communism and why you have to get permission into Cuba. Communism is defined as a system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people. Communism almost ALWAYS fails. We don't support communism, we are a democracy. A democracy is defined as government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. See the difference? Since you're only 13 you probably think "Oh, Communism means everyone shares everything- I like that idea!" but it often turns into a dictarship. A dictatorship is defined as a country, government, or the form of government in which absolute power is exercised by a dictator (Hitler was a dictator).
The reason why we have to request permission to enter Cuba is because it is ran by a dictator named Fidel Castro, he's not a good man. Cuba and the U.S. have never gotten along (always fighting or on the brink of fighting and such), as you will learn in History when you get into high school. It's more of a security issue when it comes to the U.S. and Cuba- not because they're "evil communists." The reason why we don't need permission to enter China is because we get along/trade with them and neither one of us have a HUGE reason to deny access.
About Paris Hilton, she's just saying that for the publicity. Once she's out she will go back to her spoiled, self-centered ways. Every celebrity does things just to get into the lime light. Her whole life Paris has been rolling in the money and spoiled so she's not going to stop now just because she want to jail for a few days.
NinjaNeer answered Saturday June 23 2007, 5:01 pm: EDIT-- Cuba's a sucky country? Since when???
My parents went to Cuba, and said that a lot of the problems that exist in the United States are nowhere to be found in Cuba. Some interesting stats (from CIA - The World Factbook)...
- Literacy rate: 99.8%. U.S.? 99% (both from the same site)
- Cuba has free education for all of its citizens... university included!
- Cuba has a free health care system.
- They're allowed to vote at age 16. That sounds like liberty to me...
- There's no poverty in Cuba. Why? Because everyone works, and everyone gets a share of it. The percentage of people below the poverty line in the United States? 12%.
You see, not everything is as they tell you in school and on the news. The United States are a great place to live, but there are other ways of living. And those other ways aren't necessarily wrong, or worse. Try to keep an open mind if you must judge other countries.
The problem with illegal immigrants is that taxpayers foot the bill for them. They don't have to pay taxes... so they get to use your social programs for free. Also, they often come with no financial backing, so they end up supported by... guess who?
The United States' "land of the free" refers, I believe, to the fact that you are free to practise your beliefs, not that it's the land of the free ride!
As for the Cuba situation, that's hypocrisy at its best. You see, the United States had a big problem with the revolution. They decided in 1992 that if Cuba wouldn't become a democratic nation, then they would put a trade embargo on them. That's why Cuban cigars are so hard to get. It also really screws over Cuba's economy. Now, the United States can afford to suspend trade with Cuba, but China... that's another story. China is a huge economic centre, and since the U.S. needs them, they don't get the same sanctions. Pretty messed up, isn't it?
So, what have you learned from this? Your country's a little messed up :P This is a perfect example of the government pulling the wool over the eyes of the people, without them suspecting a thing.
As for Paris Hilton... I'd believe her when I see it happening!
LOL_x0x answered Saturday June 23 2007, 4:55 pm: Illegal immigrants,
are illegal.
Our country's gonna get overrpopulated & stuff.
the end.
I know nothing about Cuba,
therefore I cannot opinionate.
I'm glad Paris Hilton is in jail.
I hate how she gets treated differently
and I hate how she's all spiritual and religious after one day.
I mean, I'm not super religious or anything, but you can't just decide to be super religious overnight.
She did it for attention.
But then part of me feels bad for her,
because the reason she got out for a period of time
was her mental problems.
No joke.
And all of this,
won't last when she's out.
except her mental problems.

First of all, it's rude to leave such long feedback, it screws up my column. Next time, please leave it in my inbox. It's not fair to rate me down since you only asked for opinion.
You don't want to research, fine, but you have no business forming opinions without knowing about the issues. I'm not saying you have to know everything. But if you want to talk about Cuba, know why we have problems with them. Even glancing at wikipedia might help. MyHappyShoes said almost the same thing as I did, in a ruder way, and still got a 5. If ratings meant anything to me I'd file an abuse report.
I'm sorry you don't understand. I'll try to summarize.
- ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS- Way too many of them. Quite literally millions. Not included in national census (population count), which isn't good for government programs. Don't pay taxes. Taxes are the main way that the US gets money for school programs, programs to help the poor, etc. Not all government is against illegal immigration but it's not good for the economy. I still don't know what you mean by "That wall". If you mean the wall that is on the border between Mexico and the US, that's been there a really long time. Finally, key word: ILLEGAL. Breaking the laws of the United states.
- CUBA doesn't want to let Americans in because of some problems our government had in the past. There is actually no country that is truly communist, it's never happened. China is not communist. The people who were shooting the movie should have just applied for permission.
Illegal immigrants don't pay taxes. Taxes are the main way that the government gets money to pay for programs such as food stamps and school music programs. If they really want to be considered people they should apply for citizenship. The NATIVE AMERICANS (not Indians!) have nothing nto do with anything. Your argument is faulty and illogical. Not every person in the government is against illegals, don't generalize. There are quite literally millions of illegals not paying taxes, living here illegally without even bothering to apply for citizenship. I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "that wall thing". If you're referring to the wall at the Mexican border, that's been there for a very long time, before 9/11. Illegals and terrorists are seperate issues. Illegals take jobs for under minimum wage, which isn't good for the economy and evade taxes.
You obviously don't fully understand the issue with Cuba. The Cuban government doesn't want to let Americans in because of some conflicts in the past. Please research things before you go around making blind statements. The United States has a long history of being against communism because we are a capitalist country. Communism is the opposite of capitalism and if the world was communist it would not be good for the US. And, actually, no, China isn't communist. No country truly is communist, but China is very, very far from being communist. If you watched or read the news you'd known that.
Nothing in the world can help Paris Hilton. She's a spoiled brat and is just trying to use jail as good publicity. 23 days, boo-hoo. Normal people can get a life sentence for drunk driving. She's not going to change. She might pretend to for a while but people simply don't change that much.
It seems to me that you are opinionated with no real proof or research. Don't be so quick to form opinions. Research things. You really need to read the news, even if it's just online, because you don't really seem like you know what you're talking about. [ xokristabelle's advice column | Ask xokristabelle A Question ]
