mylordwon answered Saturday June 23 2007, 1:13 pm: Repent means to turn away. God calls us to repent of our sins. It's not simply feeling bad, although that is and should be an emotional response, it's turning and then moving in another direction. If someone truly repents to God, He/she WANTS to turn away from his/her old sinful lifestyle. It's a heart change. And once the heart changes, the behavior soon follows.
The heart is what God is ALWAYS concerned about. He promises to forgive those who repent. True repentance requires a change in heart. Saying you're sorry and asking for forgiveness without meaning it is not true repentance. [ mylordwon's advice column | Ask mylordwon A Question ]
hco_babe answered Friday June 22 2007, 7:18 pm: exactly. to repent means to truly feel bad about something you did wrong and ask for forgiveness. yes i think it is okay if you just tell your priest that you did something "against your religion." telling him you masturbated is very personal and something you probably dont really want to share with him.
